Infectious Grooves-Fame

Six is a David Bowie fan apparently.

This is the only David Bowie I'll ever give a damn about.

  2. I really don't like cats or dogs, though when I was a teenager I used to own a cat that was missing most of his face. He'd sit on the porch and sniff and bleed.

When people came over, it would rub against their legs and they'd be like "Oh, hey kitty... OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG HOLY @#$%!!!"

I'm almost skinny enough to play Bowie in a film. Maybe on next week's ATF show I need to play some live Bowie on the guitar...

  4. Since we're sharing covers, this is quite touching:

  5. I can't get past the androgyny of that guy. Why not listen to music made by actual men or women?

  6. PS Evan Williams single barrel is alright.

  7. Nice cover of 'Fame'. Funk guitar is one of the styles I do well, for some reason, and this one made me want to jam.

I was not as much of a Bowie hater as Nate, but some one once played me this masterpiece and that was the end for me. It concludes with 3 minutes straight of "Sun machine is coming down and we're gonna have a party."

Unintended irony in the Youtube comments: "what memories--I listened to this constantly when I was recovering from anorexia back in 1974.thanks for sharing!" (And from the username, I conclude that was a dude. )

  8. BTW, Nate, you might be needed over here.

Bowie may have played androgynous on stage but you guys do know who he married, right?

He also has kids, one by the ex-wife and one by the current.

  10. and ex-wife because she caught him all balled up in bed with Mich Jagger.

IN A GADDA DA VIDA goes on for much, much, much longer, but is eminently more listenable.

It seemed like the thing to do for artists in the 60's/70's -- make a strange/eclectic/experimental album. Bowie had his Space Oddity; Beach Boys had Pet Sounds; Pink Floyd had Animals; Moody Blues had Days of Future Passed; and Zappa...well, everything that man did was eclectic.

  14. Would you answer a strange whiskey/bourbon question for me?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Jill... Bourbon is NEVER off topic.

  16. It's kind of a strange question, though. I need a bourbon match for a book character. You know, a kind of personality match: aggressive male, brilliant entrepreneur, completely stingy with money, doesn't drink much, but needs a good bourbon for when, say, his hippy Marxist parents visit. He's not adventurous; his entire goal in life is to make money and be in control. Could you recommend something for my character?

It's definitely a job for bourbon...you wouldn't want to waste good Scotch on losers like that.

  18. WaterBoy, he's not a loser.

    Lost In Translation:

    "hippy Marxist" = loser

  20. Good heavens, he doesn't share it with his hippy Marxist parents. His wife brings it to him so he doesn't turn into a mother-f*cking jerk when they visit.

    Good scotch is an oxymoron.

  22. Jill... I totally got this. There will be a whole post about it. I will even explain why he drinks what he drinks.

  23. Wow, thanks! Much appreciated.
