Immature rattlesnakes will dump their whole load on average while mature rattlesnakes will sometimes hold back or inject nothing at all. Either way, as poisonous snakes go I will take the rattlesnake, western or eastern any day over a mamba or cobra. He'd order a beer and then reach in his pocket and pull out the rattler and put it on the bar and watch everyone run. He hit a few bars, had his fun, then went home and put the rattler in a cage. A few weeks later he thought he'd do it again so he grabbed his snake. That was when he learned the fangs grow back. I've seen big examples of western snakes but they are a lot rarer than the big eastern ones. IF there is a big western rattler around there isn't likely to be a lot of other ones, but out east you can have lots of big snakes in the same area.Res Ipsahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16433725505878267643noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6768209.post-55368960952825834912014-05-30T21:42:16.677-07:002014-05-30T21:42:16.677-07:00I actually held a diamondback by the neck once. The one we had out here a couple years ago... thing was probably 5.5 feet long... but it was literally 6 inches in diameter. And if that doesn't sound big... think about a boa that you've seen in the snake store. That's what this son of a bitch looked like.

Natehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02962463170236658764noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6768209.post-34003098973114397792014-05-30T17:38:45.053-07:002014-05-30T17:38:45.053-07:00Damn snakes.Damn snakes.russnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6768209.post-2006394945667146942014-05-30T17:27:53.652-07:002014-05-30T17:27:53.652-07:00To be fair, the record biggest of each type isn...To be fair, the record biggest of each type isn't that far off...96" for the Eastern, and 92.5" for the Western.
