a new begining

Its become abundantly clear that Vox's blog just ain't what it used to be.  Its not really his fault.  The guy has gotten so big... his comment section has been inundated with idiots on par with the average youtube commenter.

That leaves us with a problem.

Where are the OG Dread Ilk to go to hang out and enjoy the same culture and commraderie we've grown accustomed to?

Welcome home boys.

I will officially commit to blogging at least twice a day.  That should provide you with plenty of stuff to talk about and plenty of reason to keep the comments jumping.  If I can't keep that pathetic pace up... I'll open the blog up to other Ilk to keep the content coming.  Yes.  You read that right.  I will turn over the keys to the Bloggerblaster if need be.

now... none of this is to say I am upset or angry with Vox... or unhappy with his blog or blogging.  I love the guy.  I love his blog.  But the fact is the comments there just aren't worth the pain in the ass of the storm fronters and alt-right retards.

So... here we are.

Round them up.   You wanted to a place to hangout?  Here ya go.

I admit I do much prefer this blog over the other, even for just lurking. As long as we get some BB on a daily basis again, whatever you do Nate it will be all good.

  26. Nate, when will you upgrade to a new comment system? This oldschool Blogger interface is triggering.

  27. I had fun lurking here years ago, and commenting on occasion under my old name, metaljaybird/mjb. I'll be making this my daily stop again.

  28. I'm probably the type of new guy you're complaining about having only been reading the blog for a year or so and commenting for a month or so.

I wonder though; things change, things grow. Is that so bad?

Is it your desire to create an echo chamber with which to remove yourself from "storm fronters and alt-right retards?"

echo chambers eventually die; you can't spread your ideas in an echo chamber.

    ReplyDelete
  29. We don't want an echo chamber. We want a place where adults with triple digit IQs can hang out.

  30. You can't have an intelligent discussion when 50% of participants are mouth breathers.

The reason most of us loved Vox's blog in the first place was it was a collection of extremely intelligent people.

    now?

That's been watered down to the point that its not worth bothering with.

  40. The reason most of us loved Vox's blog in the first place was it was a collection of extremely intelligent people.

100% right about that. I stopped commenting awhile ago for the same reason.

I will officially commit to blogging at least twice a day.

Has anyone told Nate that a day is 24 hours and not once every six months or so?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Is this going to be just ATF topics? Inquiring minds want to know.

    ReplyDelete
  42. >>we need thumbs up and thumbs down buttons.

What about creating a 'dreadilk' subreddit? It would have the added effect of getting an enormous quantity of Reddit SJW panties in a bunch.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Not Dread Ilk, but I've been reading over there for damn near a decade. I used to skim the posts and read the comments. Now I read the posts and skim the comments. I'm guessing that all the names I look for there in the comments will be all that I see here. My favorite comment yesterday outside the VP as safe space comment was someone questioning Nate's manhood and then quoting Lincoln.

    ReplyDelete
  44. OK, Nate. Get that next blog up. You got two coming in today.

  54. Oh Josh, I know how to make a whole lot more than sammiches.(grin)

Having been around from the days of the flame wars of Bane, Nate, ChuckE, Morgan of the Lake sparring with Spacebunny, VD's blog has indeed changed.
His posts are still awesome reading, but some of the commenters are indeed not up to the quality of days of old. He does have some great regulars, but they are not the same level from the old days. Not bad, just different.

The multi post/days dead horse beating regarding the Japanese of WWII were such epic entertainment. Nobody did a free for all like those commenters from those days.

I console myself with knowing that Nate, Res, and the good Rabbi have their doors open and are offering a good place to come and kick off my shoes. It is much appreciated in these days we are currently witnessing.

Remember when all Bane had to do was a one word Mooooo in response to Morgan of the Lake and she would go off on an epic hissy fit? Good times.

Environment is not the web address and we can pretty much disagree on anything. There is no concern that this will become an echo chamber.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh, and the commenter who deserves his own category in the VD/Nate HOF for commenters is JamieR. When he would get triggered, his stream of conscious style comments were epic.

Marriage sure has tamed him well.

  63. Interesting situation that has developed with regards the Dread Ilk.

Glad to hear more from you, though, whatever the reason.

Good luck keeping it up, Nate. Not that you're incapable, of course... But I suspect you are someone more challenged than Vox by the opportunity cost of blogging.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Also, what happened to the Farmer Tom post at Vox's? I kind of wanted to see what transpired, but it is gone. Any insight as to why he nuked a post?

Not like Vox to puss out on that type of discussion... is he worried he hurt FT's feelings? Har. I read the post and a few comments... seems like Vox is in denial about the consequences of his success in pushing for "nationalism" in the US (which is a fucking non-starter for reasons that even Wheeler could explain).

Ah well. Good to see a bunch of the folks that made it worth reading comments over there, over here. I wish you luck.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ok. This PROVES that God has a sense of humor. It's... just... spectacular. I googled Wanna Dubie, for old times sake and all that. Here's the first line of the first article that popped up:

56-year-old Chief Wana Dubie—given name Joseph Bickell—announced his run for the seat currently held by Republican Sen. Roy Blunt.

    ReplyDelete
  66. WaterBoy10:38 PM

    @thimscool

He didn't nuke the post. The first one in which Farmer Tom made his original comments is here: Muslim immigration ban is constitutional.

The followup post specifically addressing FT's comments in that one is here: Mailvox: change is inevitable.

    No pussing out involved.

    ReplyDelete
  67. WaterBoy11:15 PM

Bill: "56-year-old Chief Wana Dubie—given name Joseph Bickell—announced his run for the seat currently held by Republican Sen. Roy Blunt."

Yup, Dubie vs. Blunt '08. Except Blunt declined to run for re-election. And the Libertarian party in Missouri declined Dubie's registration fee, essentially booting him from the party...at least for that election.

  68. Ah. Thanks WB... Not sure how I missed them but I'm glad vox didn't go round the bend...
