Calling for the Bones

The question is at hand... Where will America be in 2015? In the old days... in the old country... the viking kings would summon the Angel of Death... a prophet of sorts... who would consult the bones... and read the future in them.

These days we're not quite so creative... these days... we can simply look back to history and see what's happened before.

So lets see... In 1929 there was a huge stock market crash... and in response the Hoover admistration passed a bailout bill... then FDR came along... and ramped up spending to never seen before levels... in an all-out effort to create jobs and stimulate the economy.

In 2008 we saw a stockmarted crash... we saw an everything crash... and Dubya's administration passed the TARP bailout bill... and now... Obama's adminstration is about to ramp up spending to never seen before levels... in an all-out effort to create jobs and stimulate the economy?

Let me offer a quote for your consideration... Franklin Roosevelt's Treasury secretary, Henry Morgenthau, addressed Congressional Democrats in May of 1939:

"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong ... somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises ... I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started ... And an enormous debt to boot!"
