Nate, I can't think of anything to rant about, but something you may say may key me in on something I forgot about. I'll be listening even though. I don't want to talk about the damn Zimmerman trial. I do have a copperhead snake invasion story that happened yesterday and their are now 8 dead copperheads. It is interesting because it is so very very very rare to see so many copperheads migrating at dusk. And my niece almost got bit.

Yeah. It's responding to elevated nitrogen levels. Generally it will drop off once the nutrients are consumed. Unfortunately, you're probably dealing with manure or fertilizer run-off that's causing the increase. If I had that in a pond, I'd add some algae-eating fish... or just wait for things to adjust.
