I'm Nate. This is my blog. Dammit.
Don't believe the lie, he's only hidden them during the election. Just as politicians clean out the homeless loitering around City Hall and polling stations before an election, these Ice Giants will be right back on the streets immediately after Odin gets in.Q: You know how you can tell when a politician is lying?A: His lips are moving.

OTNate, Romo was sacked three times tonight in first half. He won't last long. as soon as you see him injured find a way to squeeze Brandon Weeden on your VPFL team. You won't be sorry.
you think Weeden is legit outlaw?
Yes I do, and am damn glad we got him as a backup.
I also introduced them to Volbeat and explained the Rules of Cursing and when its appropriate and when it isn'tMy son swore on Russian before he could speak. He's simply found English words to use now. I'm expecting the rules I've given him are 85%+ inline with what you'd give, but I'm curious. What are your guidelines for cursing?
Nate,I figure you had a collection of Frost Giant heads you took with a 338 laupua or 50 BMG round
Remember when Nate used to be cool? Remember the ATF show?
Aye, those were the days.
HA!!! Perfect for my coworker! A Primitivo, later the pipe with some Hurley Burley and the Savage 110.Btw hows it going with Kiwi and Athor? I need to comment here more and I need a good wife!!!
I miss the ATF show. The fighting, the ranting, the camaraderie, the bourbon-infused gun talks.I really want to talk about guns again. I actually cleaned a few the other day, just 'cause.

Vidad, you were awesome in that show.
@RussThanks. 'tis hard to keep up with Nate. Fortunately I'm on a Mac.
Having momentarily awakened to deal with a minor case of SIWOTI, Smaug the Sleeper hunkers back down into his gleaming treasure hoard and slumbers once more....and the dust slowly settles back into its accustomed places amidst the guns never shot, the cigars never smoked, and the stories never told.Sleep, O pugnacious one. 'Til your heart doth bestir once more.
Nate fans,we need to build an analog Nate artificial intelligence. We already know a lot of the programming parameters for good vs bad guns, booze and college football. I also could use it as an upgrade for the Natebot personal defense drone i plan on building. I think 7, formerly know as 6, could give some valuable generalized insight, as would Miss Susan.Toothy and Res Ispa could fill in the firearms information. Stilicho would be a good go-to for history, Outlaw-X for Southron culture. Maybe Vladimir Putin could help with the Alpha male persona programming, I figure he owes Nate big time and would be glad to return the favor to a friend.
I volunteer to do the main programming routine.I promise not to make any n00b code errors like sticking in an extraneous negation operator (!) in important places, so that it spews such notable quotes as:"Harleys are the best damn motorcycles on the planet.""Scotch is waaaaaaaaay better than bourbon.""The SEC used to be good, but they've been worse than the Big-10 for years.""I can't wait to buy that new loft apartment in downtown New York City.""Why on Earth would anyone ever require any bullet larger than a 9mm?""Shhhh, everybody be quiet. Jersey Shore is about to start."(weeping) "I broke a nail starting the lawn mower!"and most memorable of all...."The South was wrong!"
WB You left out:"It's gotta be a Glock, a pink Glock with a fuzzy furry lavender holster".
Could also just render all other gun quotes moot with this one:"What we need are more gun laws. Only police and the military should be allowed to use guns."
More for the NateBot:"You boys get down out of that tree before you fall and hurt yourselves.""Kill a rattlesnake?!? Lands, no -- they're one of Gaia's beautiful creatures, and I couldn't hurt Mother Earth like that.""I can't wait to get to the big city -- there's just so much more to see and do there.""I can't wait to get to Europe -- they're so sophisticated and cultured.""I can't wait to get to the soccer game -- it's such an exciting and engrossing sport.""Oooooh, goody! My new blue nightie is here!"
"Titian Football sucks! I'm rooting for UofM"."If only I could get a glass of unsweet tea".
Someone over at Vox's place is saying the 9mm is the greatest all arounder for self defense. I you had broke them of that. I used to have a bird dog like that. Also I told my mom when Fisher cut sparkle pants that Jerry Jones would pick him up, and when she asked me how I knew after it happened I told her that JJ loves to cause division with the team and the fans for publicity.
Nate,Ohio State lost lost, that should be worthy of commentary from you...then again, maybe not...they are, after all, Ohio State
"Johnny Rebb said... ...Btw hows it going with Kiwi and Athor?... 8:02 PM "Holy crap, you remembered this months later?
Thanks for your vote of confidence Cheds. I noticed you forgot motorcycles and workshop stuff. Besides the ammo and guns, Nate has an extensive knowledge of MC's and workshop stuff. Quite impressive, to me at any rate.
Yeah Athor, how is it going?
Correction. It's a 12mm
Russ,Nate doesn't blog here anymore. His friends stop by for a beer and a smoke but that's about it.
It is Friday... hope against all hope?I need to go to the liquor store just in case...
I'm inclined to start posting scotch reviews here.Somebody ought to get some use out of it.

Dont underestimate our Nate. He is more like a force of nature than a mere mortal.
Easy on the hyperbole there, Cheds.I don't know of a single hurricane or tornado that was ever passed out drunk and got done up with makeup and a blue lace teddy......at least, not on Wednesdays....
Waterboy, that was the most awesome punishment ever meted out to a husband from his loving wife. I think that one post is why I would like Dr. Who. She is a keeper.
Waterboy,Just wait until he manages to channel his super Nate powers into things like makin' stuff and buildin' stuff. That's what I'm sayin'.
@Susan: I know, right? I'm just hoping that she was the one to put those panties on. Any other way is just........*shudder*@Cheddarman: But forces of nature are more destructive than constructive, yamean? All kidding aside, I haven't seen Nate posting at Vox Popoli either, so I imagine that he's just really busy with:A) Project XB) Family vacationC) In jail for popping some ho in an elevatorOK, so there was still room for one more joke....

I went to bed last night with about 5 min left in 3rd quarter of the OK, TN game. I'm guessing Nate is hiding in shame and we won't see him again until next fall.
I wonder what our beloved Nate is up to? (I say "beloved" in the way that a southerner might have spoken of Robert E. Lee or Stonewall Jackson, no homo-eroticism here)I think of Nate just about every day, there is a snack bar in the building where i work and get my AM coffee, the kid who oversees the other 20 college student workers is a mini-alpha, and sounds like Nate. I always call him Nate, thought that is not his name. He is from the Appalachian part of my homwe state, and has a southern accent.I figure the reason Nate is scarce these days is that he is building a time machine, so he can go back and ensure a Southern victory in the War of Northern Aggression. I wonder what he would bring back in time. I figure they had pretty good smokes and booze back then, though the beer might be a little substandard. Any thoughts on what he might take with him on that trip, besides his entire arsenal, tactical nuclear weapons, and a turd sandwich for Lincoln?Given the probable size of his arsenal, tactical nukes might be redundant.sincerelycheddarman
"I figure the reason Nate is scarce these days is that he is building a time machine"I figure he's writing a book. Don't know if it's the same one he proposed some years ago or a different one, but I figure that's consuming all his writing energy up so he has nothing left to put on the blog at the end of the day. This might be a good time to put up those guest posts, if he is.
" Susan said... Yeah Athor, how is it going?5:28 PM"It went.Which wasn't entirely surprising since I have the charm and tact of a bag of hammers.

Chedderman, how's the buffer coming?
AWJ308, it has been a journey of discovery. I am working with a local injection molding company to make my prototype. I am going to form a LLC so i can deduct the expenses. I will keep all of you posted, whether it works or not.
It looks like tonight is going to be one of the last Friday's that the weather is going to be nice. I think I'll sit outside and drink a beer and smoke a cigar after I get off work. Odds are good that I'll have my Sig on me.
"I think I'll sit outside and drink a beer and smoke a cigar after I get off work."Hopefully I will be doing the same after closing the shop for the night.Cheers, all!Toothy
Cheddarman, thanks for the update. Can't wait to see video, pics or even some sketches. I'd sign a NDA if you want. Having the mold made is a big step. Will it be a prototype mold or production grade? Some people will prototype on a mold base with room for multiple cavities and put them in once the need is there. This saves them money in the long run, but you pay for the extra steel up front. Not all mold makers are equal either. A good one will be worth it. What resin are you planning to use? Im game for answering some general injection molding questions without understanding the nature of your product. Call me if you want Nein ohh seven-Nein ohh tree-fifty to seven tree

Toothy, is this one of those situations where your browser doesn't permit you to post using Name/URL and defaults to Anonymous, or is it that you choose not to use it?Just askin', 'cause it's easier to pick out the name in the header instead of at the bottom of the body.
My browser defaults to my google account (see present link), and I don't want people to think I'm advertising...I suppose in the future I can use the Name/URL option.toothy
However, if you do want to buy a firearm from an Ilkish sort... ;)
Unfortunately, as a licensed dealer you would be required to register such a sale, no?There's a reason I only put down "Yes" to the 'F' part of each 'ATF'....
There is actually no "registration" at a federal level, although there is in some specific states. But yes, a sale would involve a NICS background check in your state. They ask for your personal info (name, bday, height, weight...); they do NOT ask about manufacturers, models and serial numbers when calling the check in. However, the FFL keeps the paperwork for 20 years (which does include that info). There is no law that precludes you from reselling your purchase later, and from a fed standpoint, no paperwork is needed. Thus, it is not really registered.
It was my understanding that an interstate sale had to go through a local FFL to handle the transfer...and that the local FFL did the paperwork.Would appreciate clarification if that is not the case.
It was my understanding that an interstate sale had to go through a local FFL to handle the transfer...and that the local FFL did the paperwork.Pretty much. A little detail-The following is from a FEDERAL standpoint ONLY (state laws vary immensely:You can travel to another state and buy a long gun at a dealer, do the background check there, and bring it home. It used to be only adjacent states, but that was changed. A handgun must go to your in-state dealer and you do the NICS check there. There is no legal provision from a federal standpoint to transfer a firearm from one private individual to another in a different state(must go through an FFL and NICS check).Private transfers from one individual to another that are both residents of the same state are not regulated unless we're talking NFA items.Hope this helps; there are too many damn rules...
There is no legal provision from a federal standpoint to transfer a firearm from one private individual to another in a different state(must go through an FFL and NICS check). Is this the case if both parties meet in person and no common carrier is used to effect the transaction?
Is this the case if both parties meet in person and no common carrier is used to effect the transaction?Yes.
And honestly, I was unaware of this until we started the gunshop.
Not saying this doesn't go on regularly, however. Three felonies a day, right?
We have folks at our local gun shows that come from out of state. Only about 50% of the tables are dealers. I'm guessing that guns get bought and sold all the time by private parties.
They sure do, Res.We are close to the Michigan and Indiana borders - gun shows all over. But still illegal to buy from a private individual from a different state.Out of state:Long gun from dealer - ok, NICS check on site, go home with itHand gun from dealer - must be shipped to your FFL of choice; NICS check in your stateAny firearm from a private individual, no go - unless you have them ship to an FFL in your state, and you do the NICS check there. But then it's not truly a private transaction anymore.
And honestly, I haven't heard of a conviction for a sale like that, but I wouldn't want to be the test-case, either...
Brother Outlaw-x, how goes the battle?SincerelyCheddarman and just about everyone else here

Hi Cheds.I saw Outlaw comment at Vox's; I think he said he's in the hospital.Prayers and best wishes to him.Hope you and yours are well too, Cheddarman (and everyone else, for that matter).
Cheddarman, Good uck with the move. I'll be around all weekend.
PKM kits seem to have 2 prices. I saw 1 for $1,500 and a few for $7,000. From what I gather, some parts kits are legal to be remanufactured (with the legal paperwork requirements met) and others are not able to be repaired. That would explain the price difference in the kits. I'd expect that an unscrupulous guy would try to selll the lower value non-buildable kit at the price of a build able kit, if that's even the case. The last bit of advice I was given was to contact a firearms lawyer should I wish to pursue this.
A: Basil Hayden's T: Oliva Master Blends IIIF: Norinco MAC 90ajw308 - I'm unfamiliar with the PKM, other than a cursory google search. Why are the semi-autos so expensive? They seem to have transferable full-auto prices, or am I missing something blatant (most likely the case)?
Yeah Toothy, I think he said he was in the most dangerous place in Texas, or something like that.I don't blame him a bit for feeling like that at all.
Nate sighting at Vox Popoli!Actually, it could have been Bigfoot. There wasn't much evidence to tell for sure either way.
i still think we should try and radio collar Nate. We need to set up a cammo blind somewhere near his property, so we could shoot him in the rear with a tranquilizer dart.Given his woodcraft skills and knowledge of the local terrain, that would be a couple of orders of magnitude more dangerous than hunting the Big 5 from Africa simultaneouslyI'm thinking we would need something that would really throw off his guard. Perhaps a giant 16 point robot buck walking across his property, just out of range from one of the tree stands with the TV/combo massage and recliner chair/refrigeratorI'll get to work on that
How about a snare with a Nighthawk Custom 1911, a box of Padron 1926 Series 80th Anniversary cigars and a bottle of Van Winkle's in the middle?
Nah, he'd just take out a pair of sticks and start drumming on it.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!Just found this bit of drum slang:Water Boy -noun- the one drummer who can never get any of the fun, tough licks right, thus forcing the instructors to water the parts downIt's like they looked back at 7th grade band class and picked me as the model. Only instead of watering everything down, they just moved me over to play general percussion.Serendipity strikes.
Picked up some Makers and might just smoke a Torano cigar tonight. While working on finishing my garage, of course.
i wonder what "Project X" ol' Nate is working on is all about?Inquiring minds want to know!
Toothy, I'm assuming thoses were all full auto.
ajw308, The one's I saw were not: $10,5000 Buy It Now $8,500 start priceThis one is full auto, but it is post-86, so only dealers and gov'ts can buy it: $7,000 start price And this $10,000 parts kit , but no mention of NFA/Class stuff, so it's semi as well. That's why I asked, as these seem like they would be (transferable)full-auto at these prices, but are not. Given this is gun talk, perhaps our blog host could enlighten me (hint, hint). And these weapons do look pretty cool, too, for the record.
That should read NFA/Class 3 above.Sorry.
" that would be a couple of orders of magnitude more dangerous than hunting the Big 5 from Africa simultaneously"Not really. Have you ever taken a close look at a cape buffalo? Those bastards look at you like you owe them money... and are behind on the vig. And that's before you shoot them. After you shoot them, they get pissed.
Well, looks like that's just about it. This post is getting too long to scroll down, and it doesn't appear another one's coming any time soon.Time to put the old blog in a shed out back, pump some morphine into her and let her go peacefully into that good night.Best of luck to you and yours, Nate -- hope Project X works out for you, whatever it is. I'll try looking you up if I ever make it down to my folks' place. And thanks again for providing a place to hang out all these years, good buddy. And all the best to the rest of you, as well. Be seeing you around other parts of the blogosphere, I'm sure.
Oh, one last thing:SIG's entry to the MHS competition
That's a good looking SIG.If the Army gets its self a new 9mm, it will be Nate's fault. He wasn't around to stop it.
Toothy, it was. Last Wed of every month, the AMGA meets at a pizza parlor about 15 miles away. They meet/eat in a back room so their show & tell doesn't upset the 1 guy there why may have sensitive allergies. I'll ask the guy with all the PKM's what the deal is on them.
Cool, ajw. I appreciate you letting me know, just for my own edification (as it is business related knowledge). Thanks. And Nate, get off the gaming console and POST SOMETHING, DAMMIT!
And btw, that was pretty funny, waterboy.
