Y'all have fun, but be safe.

Ah, who am I kidding...this is the Ilk we're talking about.

To all of those who are attending, stay safe and have lots of ilk style fun. Hey, you only live once right? If you are ilk, that means doing it right.

Has anyone any updates on how Res is doing? I know that his blog has been giving him fits, but he was supposed to have a line on a really good job and I haven't seen any updates on his blog in the comments. Still want to wish him well at whatever he chooses.

woo hoo, I'm # 96k something in the Gab wait list. If I sign up for twitter can Auto Matthew hook me up with the pertinent info? I'm not sure I'm dreadIlk, but maybe I'm ilkish enough to hang out.

Still not sure I can put together a road trip on this short notice. It's only a long day drive from the ATX area.

If you think are ilk material, come on over. We are actually pretty nice folk. I mean, we are all kinds of mean, but in a nice way. Maybe we are nice in a mean way. Whatever.

Gab was nice to me, got hooked up the same day.

If you didn't give me the expected abuse and torture I'd think I was some kind of special unicorn riding princess, or something less than deplorable.

You all have a great time. Wish Alabama wasn't so far from the Gem state so I could stop by. What happens if someone brings a Glock?

I think I used Josh's Volvo for a ticket shield on I65. Hope it wasn't but if it was...... bwahahahaha

Pics or it didn't happen

Still waiting for Part III of the last one, so....

True, waterboy. One suspects TPTB are suppressing the publication of that report. Have witnesses started going missing yet?

We will neither confirm, nor deny, any specific events, beyond the general observation that Note hosted one fine Ilkmoot. We had folks covering the whole homestead. Kids were running around, making friends with one another, breaking stuff, fixing stuff, etc. Good times. There are pics. Once properly vetted for security, I am sure some will make their way here.

Forget pics and all the other stuff. Just answer the one most important question:

Who had the best BBQ?

Then post the recipe for it.

Clint said...

WaterBoy, it was catered and it was fantastic. The grub was good all weekend.

Josh has a Volvo? Never knew is "gayest thing ever" was to be taken literally.

I'm with Stilcho, pics or it never happened.

patrick kelly said...

Sorry I missed it. Gotta' work on becoming less fragile so I can ilkoff at a moments notice.

@John Williams

IIRC, Saturn is the vehicle of choice for the gaystapo. But Volvo is traditionally known as the YuppiePuppy mobile.

Happy New Year, y'all!

Gun question...

(I have kept my childhood hunting guns, a Marlin 60 and a Stevens 20ga single, but for a host of reasons as a single man haven't ever armed myself in adulthood. My rate in the Navy left me a competent shooter and gunsmith though. Now I'm married, hopefully kids on the way, and looking to arm fast. I'm very lower middle class, but secure at that level. Nobody goes hungry or naked around here, but no real disposable income to speak of.)

I'm saving up for a good battle rifle (5.56) but figure sidearm and pump gun should come first.

What do you think of the Keltec P11? I know guys with more money wouldn't touch it, but they appear to be a solid design for concealed carry (I like a heavy trigger) and most reviews say they're accurate within the 7 yard range. You ever shot one? Suggest another gun around that price point? I had a hipoint I inherited for a few years, but that giant slide was terrible.

Getting a Mossberg 12 from a buddy for $50 so I will be doing that for sure. May be milling my own AR receiver, when same buddy gets his ghost mill delivered.

Any ideas?

The Keltec is ok, but I think you will eventually want something else. More a few more $$ you can move up to a S&W M&P or Shield. The Taurus are in a similar price range as the Keltec but I don't know how they compare side by side.

Buy a basic $500-ish brand name (S&W, Ruger, Bush Master) AR and play around will building and milling on a 2nd one. Nate might chime in as the Spike's evangelist, I think you can get a basic one for $700-ish now.

My opinion, worth what you pay for it.

Wound up getting a used S&W M&P. I think I skinned the guy, but he knew it too.
