ATF: XX... and Volbeat - Heaven Nor Hell
I have to confess... I love Volbeat. I mean... I think this is the most badass band to break through in literally decades. Freaking awesome.
Oh wait?
What are we doing again? Right... on with it then...
A; title says Dos Equis. Why argue with the title? I love Dos Equis. I even loved it before the commercials. I'll probly move on to something else later... and if I keep rocking Volbeat... its gonna be Bookers.
T: Honestly... how many of you have had a cigar so good you seriously considered putting the thing out and just eating it? I've had my share of smokes like that. The Ghurka spec ops that have become my go to staple... did you catch that? I'll repeat... The GHURKA SPEC OPS that have become my go to staple everyday smoker... are like that. I just want to eat the things.
F: So I got a Leatherman MUT for Valentines Day. How freaking awesome is that? Have you seen these things? Yes... they are expensive as far as multi-tools go. They are also pretty specialized... with things like bronze scrapers... threads for a cleaning brush... pin punch... even a bolt clearing device. I've only had it for a bit... so I can't review it. What i can say... is its a tank. Its heavy... its well built... and all of the wearable parts are easily replaceable.
Ok kids...
Standard rules apply. Whatcha drinking? Whatcha smoking? Whatcha shooting or lusting after? And what did you think of Volbeat?

I like this song. Had no idea who the group was...
They had another recent hit, right?
Update: Found it..."Still Counting"
A: Maker's Mark 90 proof, I'm pouring one out for the homies.
T: Nothing tonight.
F: Going to try my hand at finishing my own AR15 receiver. I got an 80% receiver and jig. Buddy owns a machine shop so it should be easily doable.
buy your buddy a case a beer and have him help.
First, my thanks to you and Raggededge for the bourbon recommendations. I was able to pick up some Basil Hayden's and two different barrel lots of Booker's.
A: Creemore Springs Pilsner
T: None. It's winter in Canada and I won't smoke in the house. If I was in warmer climes, Bolívar Belicosos Finos.
F: The only rifle I own, a .303 Lee Enfield Mk III. My Grandfather's rifle (I think it was his uncle's)
Okay...never felt the need to eat a cigar. I've often wished I had another to smoke, but thats it...you might have a problem.
It's hard to come by non-Cuban tobacco here, but I've never had a problem with the Gurkas (mostly Assassins).
I dearly love ghurkas. As for cubans... my general opinion is... they are over-rated. On average no better than other cigars.
I think this is just set up for a pissing match.
I mostly smoke Cubans that I like, because non-Cuban cigars are rare here, you mostly smoke non-Cuban 'cause Cubans are banned and Nicaragua and the DR produce some fine tobacco.
Can we not just agree R&J tastes like sawdust?
Besides, the most important thing to me is:
"The only rifle I own, a .303 Lee Enfield..."
I need to fix this.
I'm still holding that eating cigars is a little....uhhhh...off.
Nate, no worries on the compensation, beer goes without sayin'. Grabbed an extra receiver for buddy to work on too. Tough part is getting the upper and other parts, most places are back ordered for 6+ months.
SDH, you'll enjoy both bourbons, the Bookers can sneak up on you and make you see elephants if you aren't careful. As for your rifle situation, yessir, you will need to fix that stat.
A: Homebrew mead. Yes, my ancestors really were vikings.
T: Pipe tobacco; some English style cav called Prime Minister.
F: My trusty AR-15
Did someone just assert that Romeo y Julieta are something other than God's Gift to Cigar Lovers????
You have to be kidding me.
And its not a pissing match. I've smoked lots of cubans.. and I've smoked lots of everything else. There are great cubans... and there are average cubans... and there are shitty cubans.
So that's all I mean. The mere point of origin is simply not an effective means of judging a cigar.
Volbeat? They're no Five Finger Death Punch.

A: Big Basil Hayden's fan here too. Have a couple of bottles of that and a handle of Dickel. Anyone else like Tecate? I like it but maybe it's nostalgia since I've been drinking it since college (a long time ago)
T: Borkum Riff in a pipe
F: My stepdad passed away and I got his Browning (BAR) 30-06. I haven't shot it yet. Any comments on this gun?
Really liked the Volbeat song. Was really hoping it wasn't going to be a version of Rocky Top when I saw the name.
A: nada
T: nada...will have to keep an eye out for Ghurka Spec Ops
F: Going to shoot my CZ P-06 today.
Good times!
BAR is a sweet rifle. The fact that it was your dad's just makes sweeter
It occurs to me that I have never actually had a cuban R&J...
So you know... the cubans may in fact taste like sawdust. I find it hard to believe... but I havent had one myself... so...
I like the Partagas and Bolivar lines, Punch Churchills and Cohiba Esplendidos and Siglo III.
I find H. Uppman to be fairly good although they're a bit mild. I like the entire Montecristo line for its remarkable consistency;
they're solid if unspectacular.
I'd rate the R&J Churchills as just below the H. Uppman.
Hoyo de Monterrey smell like a tire fire so I avoid them at all costs.
If you like Hoyos, disregard anything I ever say about tobacco, our tastes are just to dissimilar.
I've never had a hoyo... I've heard to many people bitch about them.
I love R&J... Arturo.. Torano... Onyx... Ghurka... Excaliber... Montecristo's are high quality and won't suggest otherwise and I do like them... but I rarely pick them when I have one of the above to choose from.
sippin on jim bean white 7yr tonight...on then rocks..not bad....def better than jack
low standard trk
It gives me a benchmark for the next purchase.
Mr. and Mrs. Ness and Boa (jdm) are great songs by Volbeat.
I have to assume you've heard the news from Maker's...
Read that myself and thought immediately of Nate. Congrats on MM caving.
So, Nate, whats the best bourbon for a man with no liquor budget?
makers... or wild turkey 101.
my general advice is to save up until you can buy a decent bottle... and sip on it. Make it last.
Bourbon is for enjoying. You're not looking to get hammered on it. If you want to get hammered... just get some cheap canadian shit and be done with it.
I like cheap canadian shit mixed with coke once in awhile. I have a bottle of Makers. It's 80% gone. Just wondering what to try next.
Airbourne...
