Damn You Rachael Carson

Raise your hand if you know of the book Silent Spring?

You should.. its the book thats killed more people than any other. And Rachael Carson... is the woman who's killed more people than Stalin, more than Mao, and many times more than Hitler.

What few people realize is that Malaria was controlled in the 1950s. DDT eradicated Malaria in the US and Europe, and was fast doing so in Africa.

Ahh... but dear Rachael needed a career boost... and if that meant killing millions of people... oh well. The environment must be saved!

Just some quick facts:

- 1 african chld dies of malaria every 30 seconds.

- After Malaria cases had increased 1000% South Africa began using DDT again. Cases were reduced by 80% in less than 1 year. Cases are now at an all-time low.

- 1.5 to 2.7 million people die each year of Malaria.

- Children aged one to four are the most vulnerable to infection and death. Malaria is responsible for as many as half the deaths of African children under the age of five. The disease kills more than one million children - 2,800 per day - each year in Africa alone. In regions of intense transmission, 40% of toddlers may die of acute malaria.

- In the early 1960s, only 10% the world's population was at risk of contracting malaria. This rose to 40% as mosquitoes developed resistance to pesticides and malaria parasites developed resistance to treatment drugs. Malaria is now spreading to areas previously free of the disease. None of these mosquitoes are resistant to DDT.

- Malaria kills 8,000 Brazilians yearly - more than AIDS and cholera combined.

- DDT prevented 500 million deaths by 1970.

- No one has ever died of DDT poisoning.

- After 40 years of intense scrutiny, not one case of cancer has been related to DDT.

- If America was affected by Malaria, we'd be using DDT to stop it.

- Alexander King, founder of the Malthusian Club of Rome, who wrote in a biographical essay in 1990, “My chief quarrel with DDT in hindsight is that it has greatly added to the population problem.”

And that last bit... there's where the real doosie lis. Why is it that the Left... which is so hell-bent on ramming ever cause down our throats... lets this one lanquish when the fix is so easily available?

Becasue they don't want it fixed. To them the world's over populated as is... who needs a few million more Africans running around?

You say 10 bucks will put a net over a kid's bed? I say 10 bucks worth of DDT will protect a whole neighborhood for a year... and Mosquitos bite in the day time to ya morons.

Its now universally accepted that Silent Spring was based on shoddy science at best. There was a well known professor who toured the country lecturing on DDT... and before every lecture, he would eat a teaspoon of the stuff... pure. He lived a long and happy life. But isn't it fitting... that the environmental movement... that is so plagued by pathetic attempts at science... was actually started by a book based on crappy science itself?

I'll tell ya what... how about we worry about curing AIDS after we go ahead and handle the much more deadly disease.. that we already know how to stop?
