Well.... Shit....

Ok...  this whole WWIII thing is getting a little out of hand.

Nukes?

We're talking about nukes?  And just in case you're doubting my assertion that the US and Russia are actually fighting a proxy war in Syria (ok well until Russia dropped the proxy bit and sent troops in)..  take a good look at the equipment ISIS is showing off.

Those are US tanks boys.  And ya think ISIS salvaged them?  really?  Then who trained the barbarians to use them?

This is probably a very good time to be thinking about going some place like Costa Rica.

No one is gonna nuke Costa Rica.

John McCain?

Ok... no googling... let's figure the odds...

What are the odds that John McCain has suggested we need to invade or bomb Costa Rica?

That would explain where the the rest of $500m went that was supposed to train anti-ISIS fighters and only produced 4 or 5.

I think he's suggested bombing or invading Venezuela, which is sort of close to Costa Rica.

I know that this is OT, but maybe we could offer some prayers for Res today. He is going into a job interview today, and he would appreciate the support.

good call Susan

Praying for Res

Susan: done.

"Those are US tanks boys."

Which also explains why the US efforts against ISIS have been so ineffectual. Whoever is funding ISIS doesn't want to blow up the hardware. Having to keep shipping equipment over there would prompt someone to ask questions.

Thanks Susan. Prayers offered.

There were about 30 M1 Abrahm's that ISIS captured. "They came up so fast, we didn't have time to get them out." Yea, sure.

Prayers for Res!

Only two things scare me and one of them is Nuclear War.

Yea, big prayers for Res.

Thank y'all for the prayers. The interview went great. I posted an update.

Thank you Susan for rallying support. You're a good friend.

Now, the question will be just how long can they maintain those tanks and who will do the work? Those sand monkeys aren't known for their maintenance skills and tanks require a significant amount of preventative maintenance to keep running and operating.

Somebody has pushed the "Reset" button, and the count down is on.

Nate: "Those are US tanks boys. And ya think ISIS salvaged them? really?"

From your link:

"Amnesty says IS fighters acquired a windfall of internationally manufactured arms after taking control of Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, in June, 2014.

They included US-manufactured weapons and military vehicles which they then used to take control of other parts of the country.
"

Salvaged? No. Acquired as spoils of war? Yes. Happens all the time. Especially when the Iraqi army drops their weapons and runs away by the thousands.

Nate: "Then who trained the barbarians to use them?"

1. Defectors from the Iraqi army, who had already been trained in their use.
2. IS infiltrators who had also been trained.
3. Jailed militants who had years of previous battlefield experience (some from the military) who had been released in Operation Breaking The Walls
4. They aren't actually being used, other than for PR on parade. Also from your link:

"The militants showed off their military power as part of their slick PR campaign - but fail to mention they rarely use their armoured vehicles because they are an easy target for the warplanes of Russia, America, Britain and France."

Note that the day after the Paris attacks, France alone conducted numerous raids on ISIS sites in Raqqa, including weapons depots where such things are (ostensibly) stored. Also note that the US provided targeting data -- no doubt in part to eliminate the weapons they were responsible for indirectly providing. This in addition to numerous bombing campaigns already being conducted by the US in both Syria and Iraq -- and now the UK has also been invited to the party. You know what other things the spy drones are looking for besides IS leaders?

Of further interest is that the US is now providing arms to opposition forces who are fighting ISIS. As if these, too, can't fall also into their hands.

...although it does look as if the Administration has somewhat learned their lesson.

I don't buy it Waterboy. Not for a second. "didn't have time to get them out."

My ass.

When you couple this with the stories of eye witnesses testifying that the US is aiding ISIS directly... it just doens't hold up.

From my link above:

"Soldiers and police seeking to avoid mass executions if they were captured left behind weapons, ammunition, vehicles and other U.S.-supplied equipment now used by Islamic State to attack more government positions."

Fear of beheading is a mighty powerful incentive to cut and run. Why do you think ISIS produces those beheading videos? It isn't to frighten the West, you know....

WaterBoy said...

Why would the US directly provide arms to ISIS, then conduct bombing raids to destroy them? I suppose the raids are being faked?

WaterBoy said...

Yep, there's basically three groups: Assad, ISIS, and the rebel front. Ostensibly, we're supposed to be on the side of the rebels, who are fighting both Assad and ISIS. And it's those rebels that Russia is bombing and we are arming. There's the proxy.

But with the US, UK, France, and Russia all claiming to bomb ISIS, it's hard to say what's really going on.

WaterBoy said...

Russia now using submarine-launched cruise missiles against ISIS. These are the ones capable of carrying the nukes that Nate mentioned earlier -- it's getting closer.

"President Vladimir Putin said the Caliber cruise missiles launched from the submarine could be equipped with nuclear warheads but said he hoped they would 'never be needed in the fight against terrorism'."

Implicit in Putin's threat is the statement "don't put me in the position where I need them".

For the same reason they've been buying $10000 hammers and toilet seats since we were kids.

We're not. Either one. We're arming a group of Kurds, who are very friendly with ISIS, and we're bombing one of the splinter groups of ISIS. ISIS is not one group, on any given day it's about six, maybe eight, depending on how you count. They spend almost as much time fighting each other as they do fighting Assad, the Russians, the Kurds, Jordan, the Syrian Resistance, and whoever they were allies with yesterday.

For the same reason they've been buying $10000 hammers and toilet seats since we were kids.

Hey, those $10,000 hammers were a bargain! Each one was magna-fluxed and serialized, and the records were kept for 20 years. And besides, how else do black programs get funded?
