ATF: Hallmark Holidays and Bourbon.

Yes.  Yes we ARE doing the show tonight.  Dammit.

Enough slackin' off.  Time to get down to business.  We've wrapped up deer season... and Six has hopefully wrapped up whatever gay hippy shit he's been into.

Belly up to the bar kids.  time to rock and roll

I love Sig 1911's, btw.

We just sold a Springfield EMP 1911 in 9mm. Gorgeous, but not cheap.

What kind of Vortex did you get, Nate?

Been looking at them off and on...

Let's not forget in our Remington bashing to mention their rimfire ammo, which is total crap.

Toothy... Vortex Viper 2... loved it. picked it up off amazon but I actually think it came from optics planet

Yeah, their centerfire is decent; shot quite a bit of their 308.
Re rimfire: We would never even stock their rimfire ammo at all, until the 22 situation became so dire. Now, we take what we can get, including (sadly) Thunderjunk.

I am longing for the days when I could get CCI Std Velocity shipped to my house for $180 a case (sigh).

Ooops - posted down a thread first time.

Best rimfire ammo I have found is Winchester ammo. CCI in second place (distant second) I also like one Remington rimfire ammo it is 40 gr lead hollow point called Subsonic. Great match bullets. I haven't seen CCI Green Tag is years I loved that stuff.

Fixed.

Nate how do you like that Sig Scorpion?

Outlaw X said...

Excuse, that should read 38 gr lead HP

Ha! you finally got a 10/22. Now keep your eyes tightly shut... lest they be opened to the millions of accessories... and your wallet be emptied.

I missed the show, boo frickin' hoo!

Do my CCW class next weekend.

Met with a guy to do a CAD drawing for the recoil buffer this morning, gonna do it right.

Rimfire ammo seems to be streaky. I like CCI. Federal sucks. Remington can be good or bad. Winchester was good one time bad the next. You get some duds with any of the cheaper stuff.

Cheddarman, I'm a mechanical engineer with a fully licensed copy of Solidworks at home. If your CAD guy doesn't workout, please feel free to contact me.

Cheddarman, Also have everyone sign a nondisclosure agreement. It will protect you.

awj308, are you within driving distance of ohio?

Nate said...

The scorpion? Its objectively beautiful. the finish appears indestructible... and the weapon functions exactly like you think it should.

It has a non-standard external ejector. So... I'm certain that there are devotees of Saint Browning that are spitting in disgust.

John Williams said...

I'm in Anchorage

awj308, it is my understanding that once you have a CAD drawing, you can make the object in the drawing by using the right computer controlled milling and drilling machines...am i missing something?

Thanks

If Browning was around today he'd rework his own designs. He built the best he could with the designs and manufacturing skill available at the time. Imagine if he had CAD, SQC etc like we do today, plus all the alloys, plastic and resin technology. I can't even fathom how many great guns we'd have if he was building with all the modern tech.

It depends on a lot of things, but mainly it's how sophisticated the machine shop is. Nowdays I've seen 1 man machine shops with big CNC mills and the software to create the machine code to program them.

Unless you're doing space curve/potato chip surfaces, it might be faster/cheaper to program the cnc machine from a panel, but that's a decision the machinist will make.

Remington Arms has long been the Enemy. Literally. (MIC from Wall Street - Percy Rockefeller took control of Remington Arms in 1914. ... and the Bush family has been engaged in it for four generations.). But who isn't these days.

Nate

Got some Bad News. Sometime in the last 2-3 days my 1974 Honda XL-350 was stolen in the last couple days out the farm and we know who did it. Found out yesterday, the Sherriff told my brother this guy (we know him) already has two warrants out for his arrest and just got out of Jail last Wednesday and he said they are looking for him right now but said I probably will never see it again though, but he is going back to jail for a long while, it won't just be six months this time.
