Don't believe the lie, he's only hidden them during the election. Just as politicians clean out the homeless loitering around City Hall and polling stations before an election, these Ice Giants will be right back on the streets immediately after Odin gets in.

Q: You know how you can tell when a politician is lying?
A: His lips are moving.

And they have the surplus Swiss ammo in stock at the moment too.

Man I love those rifles.

Nate, Romo was sacked three times tonight in first half. He won't last long. as soon as you see him injured find a way to squeeze Brandon Weeden on your VPFL team. You won't be sorry.

Nate said...

you think Weeden is legit outlaw?

Yes I do, and am damn glad we got him as a backup.

I also introduced them to Volbeat and explained the Rules of Cursing and when its appropriate and when it isn't
My son swore on Russian before he could speak. He's simply found English words to use now. I'm expecting the rules I've given him are 85%+ inline with what you'd give, but I'm curious.
What are your guidelines for cursing?

Nate fans,

we need to build an analog Nate artificial intelligence. We already know a lot of the programming parameters for good vs bad guns, booze and college football. I also could use it as an upgrade for the Natebot personal defense drone i plan on building. I think 7, formerly know as 6, could give some valuable generalized insight, as would Miss Susan.

Toothy and Res Ispa could fill in the firearms information. Stilicho would be a good go-to for history, Outlaw-X for Southron culture. Maybe Vladimir Putin could help with the Alpha male persona programming, I figure he owes Nate big time and would be glad to return the favor to a friend.

WaterBoy said...

I volunteer to do the main programming routine.

I promise not to make any n00b code errors like sticking in an extraneous negation operator (!) in important places, so that it spews such notable quotes as:

"Harleys are the best damn motorcycles on the planet."

"Scotch is waaaaaaaaay better than bourbon."

"The SEC used to be good, but they've been worse than the Big-10 for years."

"I can't wait to buy that new loft apartment in downtown New York City."

"Why on Earth would anyone ever require any bullet larger than a 9mm?"

"Shhhh, everybody be quiet. Jersey Shore is about to start."

(weeping) "I broke a nail starting the lawn mower!"

and most memorable of all....

"The South was wrong!"

Res Ipsa said...

You left out:

"It's gotta be a Glock, a pink Glock with a fuzzy furry lavender holster".

WaterBoy said...

Could also just render all other gun quotes moot with this one:

"What we need are more gun laws. Only police and the military should be allowed to use guns."

WaterBoy said...

More for the NateBot:

"You boys get down out of that tree before you fall and hurt yourselves."

"Kill a rattlesnake?!? Lands, no -- they're one of Gaia's beautiful creatures, and I couldn't hurt Mother Earth like that."

"I can't wait to get to the big city -- there's just so much more to see and do there."

"I can't wait to get to Europe -- they're so sophisticated and cultured."

"I can't wait to get to the soccer game -- it's such an exciting and engrossing sport."

"Oooooh, goody! My new blue nightie is here!"

Res Ipsa said...

"Titian Football sucks! I'm rooting for UofM".

"If only I could get a glass of unsweet tea".

Outlaw X said...

Someone over at Vox's place is saying the 9mm is the greatest all arounder for self defense. I you had broke them of that. I used to have a bird dog like that.

Also I told my mom when Fisher cut sparkle pants that Jerry Jones would pick him up, and when she asked me how I knew after it happened I told her that JJ loves to cause division with the team and the fans for publicity.

I wonder what our beloved Nate is up to? (I say "beloved" in the way that a southerner might have spoken of Robert E. Lee or Stonewall Jackson, no homo-eroticism here)

I think of Nate just about every day, there is a snack bar in the building where i work and get my AM coffee, the kid who oversees the other 20 college student workers is a mini-alpha, and sounds like Nate. I always call him Nate, thought that is not his name. He is from the Appalachian part of my homwe state, and has a southern accent.

I figure the reason Nate is scarce these days is that he is building a time machine, so he can go back and ensure a Southern victory in the War of Northern Aggression.

I wonder what he would bring back in time. I figure they had pretty good smokes and booze back then, though the beer might be a little substandard.

Any thoughts on what he might take with him on that trip, besides his entire arsenal, tactical nuclear weapons, and a turd sandwich for Lincoln?

Given the probable size of his arsenal, tactical nukes might be redundant.

sincerely

I figure he's writing a book. Don't know if it's the same one he proposed some years ago or a different one, but I figure that's consuming all his writing energy up so he has nothing left to put on the blog at the end of the day.

Cheddarman, thanks for the update. Can't wait to see video, pics or even some sketches. I'd sign a NDA if you want. Having the mold made is a big step. Will it be a prototype mold or production grade? Some people will prototype on a mold base with room for multiple cavities and put them in once the need is there. This saves them money in the long run, but you pay for the extra steel up front. Not all mold makers are equal either. A good one will be worth it. What resin are you planning to use? Im game for answering some general injection molding questions without understanding the nature of your product. Call me if you want Nein ohh seven-Nein ohh tree-fifty to seven tree

However, if you do want to buy a firearm from an Ilkish sort... ;)

WaterBoy said...

Unfortunately, as a licensed dealer you would be required to register such a sale, no?

There's a reason I only put down "Yes" to the 'F' part of each 'ATF'....

Toothy said...

There is actually no "registration" at a federal level, although there is in some specific states.

But yes, a sale would involve a NICS background check in your state.

They ask for your personal info (name, bday, height, weight...); they do NOT ask about manufacturers, models and serial numbers when calling the check in. However, the FFL keeps the paperwork for 20 years (which does include that info). There is no law that precludes you from reselling your purchase later, and from a fed standpoint, no paperwork is needed. Thus, it is not really registered.

WaterBoy said...

It was my understanding that an interstate sale had to go through a local FFL to handle the transfer...and that the local FFL did the paperwork.

Would appreciate clarification if that is not the case.

Toothy said...

It was my understanding that an interstate sale had to go through a local FFL to handle the transfer...and that the local FFL did the paperwork.

Pretty much.
A little detail-

The following is from a FEDERAL standpoint ONLY (state laws vary immensely:

You can travel to another state and buy a long gun at a dealer, do the background check there, and bring it home. It used to be only adjacent states, but that was changed.

A handgun must go to your in-state dealer and you do the NICS check there.

There is no legal provision from a federal standpoint to transfer a firearm from one private individual to another in a different state(must go through an FFL and NICS check).

Private transfers from one individual to another that are both residents of the same state are not regulated unless we're talking NFA items.

Hope this helps; there are too many damn rules...

Res Ipsa said...

There is no legal provision from a federal standpoint to transfer a firearm from one private individual to another in a different state(must go through an FFL and NICS check).

Is this the case if both parties meet in person and no common carrier is used to effect the transaction?

Toothy said...

Is this the case if both parties meet in person and no common carrier is used to effect the transaction?

Yes.

Toothy said...

And honestly, I was unaware of this until we started the gunshop.

Toothy said...

Not saying this doesn't go on regularly, however. Three felonies a day, right?

Res Ipsa said...

We have folks at our local gun shows that come from out of state. Only about 50% of the tables are dealers. I'm guessing that guns get bought and sold all the time by private parties.

Toothy said...

They sure do, Res.
We are close to the Michigan and Indiana borders - gun shows all over.

But still illegal to buy from a private individual from a different state.

Out of state:
Long gun from dealer - ok, NICS check on site, go home with it

Hand gun from dealer - must be shipped to your FFL of choice; NICS check in your state

Any firearm from a private individual, no go - unless you have them ship to an FFL in your state, and you do the NICS check there. But then it's not truly a private transaction anymore.

Toothy said...

And honestly, I haven't heard of a conviction for a sale like that, but I wouldn't want to be the test-case, either...

PKM kits seem to have 2 prices. I saw 1 for $1,500 and a few for $7,000. From what I gather, some parts kits are legal to be remanufactured (with the legal paperwork requirements met) and others are not able to be repaired. That would explain the price difference in the kits.

I'd expect that an unscrupulous guy would try to selll the lower value non-buildable kit at the price of a build able kit, if that's even the case.

The last bit of advice I was given was to contact a firearms lawyer should I wish to pursue this.

i still think we should try and radio collar Nate.

We need to set up a cammo blind somewhere near his property, so we could shoot him in the rear with a tranquilizer dart.

Given his woodcraft skills and knowledge of the local terrain, that would be a couple of orders of magnitude more dangerous than hunting the Big 5 from Africa simultaneously

I'm thinking we would need something that would really throw off his guard. Perhaps a giant 16 point robot buck walking across his property, just out of range from one of the tree stands with the TV/combo massage and recliner chair/refrigerator

I'll get to work on that

Toothy, I'm assuming thoses were all full auto.

Toothy said...

ajw308,

The one's I saw were not:

$10,5000 Buy It Now

$8,500 start price

This one is full auto, but it is post-86, so only dealers and gov'ts can buy it: $7,000 start price

And this $10,000 parts kit , but no mention of NFA/Class stuff, so it's semi as well.

That's why I asked, as these seem like they would be (transferable)full-auto at these prices, but are not. Given this is gun talk, perhaps our blog host could enlighten me (hint, hint).

And these weapons do look pretty cool, too, for the record.

Toothy said...
