Dang! And i wanted to ask "what would a Space Raptor shoot?"
Nate, your ATF show a few weeks ago about dads was in my head this past weekend when my two oldest boys (8 & 7) wanted to use their knives. I had bought them both a Swiss Army knife when they turned 6 and KnivesShipFree.com had a promotion where they gave away a free Buck Bantam to any kid that wanted one. They even engraved their name on them! Well, we recently moved from the city to the country, but it occurred to me that I hadn't completed showing the boys how to use their knives. They are definitely old enough and, more importantly, responsible enough. However, I told them that they were not allowed to carry their knives until they completed MY training course. My course, really, was stolen from this website: http://www.alpharubicon.com/kids/kidknives.html
The boys especially loved the "circle of blood". Also, I made sure to talk about the "Triangle of Death". Anyway, we made a big mess of wood shavings, built a fire, and then roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Of course, now the 4 year old wants his knife. I told him that once he figures out which shoe goes on which foot, we'll talk.
I don't know how many of you guys have young boys, but giving a boy his first knife and showing him how to use it is special. The looks on their faces is priceless. So, anyway, thanks for the dad show, because it reminded me to not miss opportunities to be a dad to my 4 boys.
Copperhead: thanks for the link. I'll have to make time for that.
Some of the best ATFs are where Viidad and Nate talk fatherhood. Awesome stuff.
Show tonight?
Don't see a new post for tonight, so I'll just leave this here.
A: Leinenkugel Grapefruit Shandy (hehehe)

So how did you like the Titan's draft, this year? Other than the MSU tackle, that is....
Do I get credit for turning this in late?
Westly Richards .577 Nitro Express
Bacardi Strawberry Daquari
Stood next to a machinist who smoked, earlier this week.
Alabama bound. 84 & 65 sometime in the evening.
And I'm bringing grapefruit shandy to you uncultured barbarians.
WaterBoy, I had to google what Shandy is. That looks very tasty, and I have developed a taste for Ginger Beer lately, so I will be creating some of my own for the Spring/Summer drinking season.
FYI the non alcoholic version is called Rock Shandy.
Non-alcoholic?
Sacrilege!
Non-alcoholic shandy is called "juice".
It's an oxymoron, like "digital fireworks"....🎆😠
Just reporting what I found when I researched what Shandy was. I am leaning towards agreement though. I trust you guys when it comes to opinions on adult beverages.
DAMN, but Alabama is humid! 92%? It doesn't get that humid in my shower....
A: Margaritas
T: 2 out of 3 ain't bad
F: De Lisle
Another reason for Nate to hate Columbus Ohio...Westerville Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, was once the home of the Anti-Saloon League. The league was at the forefront of the prohibition movement and was instrumental in adoption of the 18th Amendment.
Hey guys, if you catch this whilst lurking, take a moment to pray for my fiancée's brother. His best friend, who had a six-year-old son, just killed himself on Friday. None of his inner circle saw it coming, and my future brother in law is scratching his head and trying to understand it.
On a related note, does anyone have protocol advice for when the best time to bring my brother some fortification would be? Is it best to give him some Woodford Reserve DO or WT RB or similar after the funeral (this Thursday)for catharsis, or now, while he's dealing with the planning and his friend's family? I'm not terribly practiced at funeral protocol.
"None of his inner circle saw it coming, and my future brother in law is scratching his head and trying to understand it."
There is often no understanding it; hindsight is 20/20 in looking for would-be signs.
Better that he's clear-headed to assist the family, if necessary. After the funeral is time enough for infusions and remembrances, in a more discrete setting of course.
No opinion between your choices of offering. Best to go with something you already know he likes, whether it be beer, wine, or spirits.
Thanks Waterboy. I ended up waiting for after the funeral, it seemed like the best course.
Days late and a dollar short, eh? Sorry, was out on vacation and thought it might be this coming Friday what with the date missing off of comments.
Hope your BIL and his friend's family are dealing OK.
See if tagging the date in the Name field works...
