A)Modelo Especial to start... but I have some Makers 46 that is calling my name. If you haven't tried it yet... you're simply a philistine. Get thee hence!!!

T) For fathers day I was given a rather spectacular gift... a Ghurka Spec Ops special edition gift set. It came with a bunch of special edition Ghurka cigars... in a pelican case... along with a cool khukuri and thigh sheath. It even came with a sweet commemorative coin. The add-ons are sweet... but its all about the cigars... and they are amazing. After smoking one... you will wonder why marijuana is illegal and these aren't.

F) Lets start with my unborn daughter's namesake. I give you... the CZ 2075 Rami. This little sweetheart will no doubt become her mother's preferred carry piece... in .40 of course. Not the decocker and the ability to carry it cocked and locked. The weapon is ridiculously accurate... you know that.. because it says, "CZ" right there on the slide.

A: Makers Mark 46. Yes. I'm obsessed. Try it. Trust me.

T: Twist. If you know what it is.. you know. If you don't... you don't. this particular one soaks in bourbon in a zip lock bag. Notice a theme here?

F: Ruger Vaquero... .44mag. Sometimes a big shiney gunslinger rig just feels right.

Raise your hand if you own a single six. Anyone? My vaquero is in the same caliber as a winchester model 94.. so I am pretty set for cowboy action shooting if I were to ever take it up... but its not my thing. Round these parts though.. they make great deer and boar gun because the brush is so damned thick. Never seen pines this tight.

Boys... a friend is havin' a hard time findin' himself a sidearm. He's apparently got some big ol' meat hooks.. such that even Glocks don't feel right. We could take the easy way out and advize him to get a Desert Eagle.

My initial thought goes to Ol' Reliable...my Taurus PT-101. Its a double stack .40. It fills up your hand.

Now before you go gettin' your panties wadded up about it being a beretta clone.. I would caution you... because its not. Its a superior weapon to the Beretta. You can carry this cocked and locked. Its got a lot of steal where the Beretta has a lot of aluminum... its more accurate and more reliable. Those are the facts.

On the Tobacco front I would like to like to complain about NYC... which apparently has out lawed the products to the point that they simply are not available for purchase. May the whole city burn... after we're gone.

Ah well... that leaves booze.... Tonight I'm reduced to heading down to the hotel bar for over priced bourbon. Oh yes... Ask me how much a liter of Makers Mark is...

ATF: SHOT 2009

So Luke I are down in Orlando... probly cold where you are eh? Yeah that sucks... anyway... we're down here enjoying SHOT 2009. Boys I can tell ya... I have seen many things. I've fondled many... firearms... and knives... and accessories... for... firearms... and I took a test ride on a Rockon two wheel drive motorcycle. The show is unbelievable. Think of the largest mall you've ever seen... now imagine the entire thing packed with gun stuff. That's SHOT. A google search would provide you more information.. you can even look at the exhibitors list... which will give you another idea of scale. We walked roughly ten miles today... and saw a little less than half of the exhibits. Madness.

We didn't come home empty handed of course... much swag has been had... and Luke even managed to find a bayonet for his FNP-40. But wait you say... the FNP-40 is a pistol! You can't put a bayonett on a bloody pistol!

Oh you can't?

Not only that... he used it to cut the smoked venison we had for dinner. And yes... it is KaBar... thanks for asking.

And now we're drinkin', and smokin'... dammit.

So... Its Friday... and for once I have to stay substancially sober... because my wife has decided to go ahead and start having some pretty nice contractions.

Oh fun.

No fear. We've still got cigars to smoke! Speaking of those.... Flor De Selva!! Go find them. If these aren't the best cigars I've ever smoked... they are right up there. I've smoked cuban cohibas... I've smoked the best of the best... and honestly... these little honduras they're damned sure in the hunt.

I'm smoking the corona tonight.. they call it Fino I believe. Light cigar... silky... easy even burn... easy smoke... but still... complicated. Its a joy. Honestly. So raise a glass to WhiskeyGirl! She's the sweetheart that got them for me.

Speaking of gifts... Spacebunny and WhiskeyGirl are not the only ones to send ol' Nate a package recently.

The other day I opened the mailbox to find a curiosity from none other than Luke himself. I opened the box and low and behold... A Bianchi M-12 holster! This is a badass holster... its part of a modular system that can be used to carry your weapon roughly 14 different ways. Everything from left-had belt, to right hand cross draw... to shoulder rigs... to a tactical thigh rig. Its even got a silent spring closure. Its new... so it fits my PT-101 a little snug... but it fits the steyr like they were made for each other.

Carry holster? No... Not so much. Duty holster? Hell yeah. Maybe the best you can get.

Now... guns... smokes... what am I missing here?

Oh yeah... Booze. Though I suppose I did make excuses... I suppose I'll have to put off the comparison. I'm gonna sip a little Bookers and see who stumbles by.
