No Really... its Go Time

Now its just starting to get silly. These psycho liberals are literally going to try to ram everything through. In case you missed it... Obama will try to renew the assault weapons ban.

Go Time

The bill that will start the shooting is already in congress. And what type of bill is it? Well... here's the description:

"To provide for the implementation of a system of licensing for purchasers of certain firearms and for a record of sale system for those firearms, and for other purposes."

Will this get rammed through? If it does get rammed through... will it stand up in court? Veryily I say unto thee... It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if SCOTUS will overturn it. If congress passes the Bill, its time to excersize our revolutionary right to free ourselves of this pathetic tyrany of incompetence.

Every problem American citizens face today has been created, or exaserbated by government.

The line is officially drawn in the sand.
Obama Speaks... Dow Dives...

So... The Muloto Messiah struts out before congress and the nation... He's gonna save us all. He's gonna cure cancer... he's gonna get us universal health care... he's gonna get us birth to cubical education... he's promising every woman her very own obsessed sparkly vampire. You boys hoping for owls and wands are shit out of luck. I mean that would just be irresponsible spending.

Imagine my suprise this morning when the Dow dropped 150 points at the opening bell. Ok well.. you're right.. I wasn't suprised. I was chuckling to myself all day yesterday about how bad the market was going to tank after Obama's excersize.

Obama has attempted to mimic Lincoln in as many ways as possible. I'm starting to think I may not be suprised if his presidency follows Lincolns far more closely than he imagines.

If your ears are open... you've heard what I've heard. Things are stirring folks. I haven't heard this kind of talk since the mid 90's... and this time... there's a crappy economy and a nation of desperate people to feed the anger.

I am inclined to wonder if america's awkward stage is not coming to an end.

I Would Love to Take Credit For This

but alas... I did not write it. What follows is the work of another... a fantabulous fellow who has in the past authored a gloriously entertaining and insightful blog. He's not written in a while and thinks himself rusty. I can't say that I agree with that assesment. I'll let you decide:

What's check kiting and who does this heinous and illegal thing?

Just about everyone. It's Thursday night and you're out of diapers. You don't get paid until tomorrow but you know the check won't clear until later, so you go ahead and right a check that's hot *right now*even though you'll be good for it by time it clears your bank in a few days.

You just kited a check.

In the jargon that time between when you produced a promise to pay, and the time it will be paid is knownas the "float." And it is the float that makes it all work. It's that time that allows you to get your house in order and produce the money that you said would be there.

When you get really nifty with check kiting you don't trouble yourself with diapers. You simply write yourself checks across two different accounts and deposit them in the opposite bank. Each bank credit's your account *right now* even though the check won't clear for awhile. And that allows you to grow your money. Just keep writing ever larger checks to yourself across both accounts ahead of when the checks have begun clearing and you'll see your bank balance soar.

Just one little catch. If each account started with $100, then when you get tired of writing checks for no reason and call it quits... the accounts will end with $100. No matter if you got their balance up toa cool million or so; there's still only $100 and a boatload of accounting fraud. And if you dare to pull money out of this scheme it will collapse. It is a Ponzi scheme and it's growth is strictly self-generated. Pull any money out and the series will stall or collapse outright. Yank $40 out? Wreck your apparent net worth and come out the other side with 60 bucks.

Not withstanding that it's a auto-Ponzi, it's illegal because you may have a net worth of a $100,000 that is only $100 in reality. That doesn't prevent you from cashing out and making off with the proceeds of the accounting error. With good reason this kind of fraud is often a felony. So the next question is: Is there any way you could legitimately makemoney off this deal? Can you wind it up and utilize your net worthfor a gain without screwing you or the bank?

In fact there is. Roll that thing up nice and tight so you have a large balance going. Then finance someone else's mortgage. You buy the deed outright and collect payments for the mortgage from the new lucky homeowner. Now quick! Sell the deed to someone else to service the mortgage.

Deposit the proceeds fast enough and you can cover all the checks that haven't cleared yet. If you were quick and deadly you'll get it done in time and make some coin as a bonus. Now you're not a criminal. Now you're a bank. Unless you're not quick and deadly enough; then you're just Citibank.

Lies and Damned Lies

"Any people, anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valueable, a most sacred right, a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world."

"This country with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing governemnt, they can exercize their contstitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right, to dismember or overthrow it."

Who said these things? What brilliant proponant of self determination said these things? Why none other than Honest Abraham Lincoln.

Wife Worship

Its an odd topic for a friday night... but I want to talk about one of the cancers in our society. It goes down to the very core of what makes human civilization go... the family... and even beyond that to the core of the family... the relationship between man and woman.

I want you to think back to all the stupid romance scenes you've been exposed to. I want you to think about the love songs you've heard. All to often... virtually every single time.. the climax of these angles is a male finally professing his undieing love for a female. The male, always completely humbled... comes to the female and tells her how he would treat her if he had her. He tells how he'd make her breakfast in bed every day... and lists off some specifics about how she would like it. He says how he'd spend every minute trying to show her how much he loves her... in short... he tells her he would worship her.

That is what females grow up hearing that love is. When a man worships a woman... that's love. When a woman worships a man... that's abuse... but lets not get side tracked just yet...

Let's examine just how destructive this model is. Setting aside the fact that it reduces men to useless castrati... it also destroys the family.

How?

Simple. Because if a man is busy worshipping a woman... its impossible for him to worship the Lord. I want you to think back now to the Bible. How exactly do husbands treat their wives there? Its a far cry from what we pound into mushy brains of teenagers in our society.

OOOOPS

So.. according to the "experts" inflation would rise .1% in January. It actually rose .8%... according to them. Of course 6 months from now they'll revise those numbers again... and their initial prediction will even be more wrong.

The point is... for the first time... they are admiting something is happening on the inflationary front. That doesn't mean its time to panic... but it is the sign a lot of us were looking for.

You can bet when a Keynesian economic group starts releasing info about increasing inflation they are scared. Very scared indeed.

And while we're talking about it... can someone explain why we should trust anyone that is off by 800% to even measure inflation.. much less predict it?

Keynesians Are Morons

You must understand that the vast majority of the talking heads are keynesian. That is.. they subscribe the few remaining theories postulated by John Maynard Keynes that have not quite been 100% proven incorrect just yet.

Now the keynesians describe a recession like this... "demand no longer equals productive capacity because people have started storing up large cash reserves."

So... recessions are bad... and they are what happens when companies are making stuff that people aren't buying.. because those bad people have decided to save some of their money.

Out of curiousity... Do you remember any massive rash of unified saving among your friends and family recently? Did the whole world recently decide to start saving money all at the same time? Of course not. The very idea is assinine. Never the less...

Since that is what they believe the problem is... they believe someone has to step in and buy the stuff that the public isn't buying... lest the capacity go to waste and companies start laying people off.

Ok... lets put it in common terms.

Lets say GM decides that what people really want are not cars at all... but motorized unicycles. They invest millions in retooling.. and produce thousands of motorized unicycles... which no one buys... because nobody wants motorized unicycles.

All of that capital investment was wasted by GM.. and now there is a deficit between what GM has produced.. and what people actually buy.

To the Keynesian... or as they are more commonly referred.. morons... this is a horror. The Government MUST step in and buy all the excess unicycles. That is the only thing that will prevent a recession. So tax money is taken out of the private sector where it was going to good competetive companies making good competetive products... and given to GM... so GM can keep making crap that no one wants.

Compare this to the Austrian view... which is... GM did something stupid. GM dies... and the productive capacity is replaced by a company that's not nearly as stupid. Meanwhile the money that would've otherwise been spent on GM cars... go saved.. and therefore can be spent on the products of the new competitive company.

Now you tell me... which view makes sense... and which view is the one championed by Harvard Business School?

Fire Every Teacher. Hang Every Bureacrat.

So... remember when you were at school... and someone would do something against the rules... do you remember how it was handled? Ya know.. the teacher comes over and gives someone a talking to... and if they press the matter.. they are sent to the principle's office right? Usually the offenders were made to write lines... or swatted with a paddle in severe cases... and in the worst cases.... they were suspended.

But no... that's not now they handle it now. No now... if you're caught texting in class... and lie about it.. the cops come and arrest you for disorderly conduct.

I say this in all seriuosness... If you have a young child.. and you are considering surrendering him or her to these people... then you are either evil... or ignorant.

And Now For Something Completely Different

But fret not... we're still talking about hoaxes on a grand scale. In fact... this one is far more relevant to most of you than any ridiculous claims of moon walking... and its a claim that has been foisted on millions... no... billions is a far more accurate term.

Today we're going to talk about the biggest hoax ever pulled... Tithing.

Christian Tithing is completely and totally unbiblical. Its arguably the biggest practical difference between the Eastern and Western churches. The Eastern Church does not tithe.

I'm going to share some very pointed facts:

1) Jesus didn't tithe.
2) None of Jesus' followers tithed.
3) Paul wrote 10 books to the gentiles. He never tells them to give money to anyone.
4) The only law outside the 10 commandments retained by the modern church is the Tithe
5) Money was not tithed in the Bible. Only livestock and crops.
6) The modern tithe doesn't even remotely resemble the law moses laid out in any fashion.
7) The church knows all of this.

I have always been skeptical of the tithe. For one.. you have a group of people claiming to be the sole authority on translating the law... and that law just happens to tell us to give them 10% of our money. See where I'm going? It sounds a lot like a scam to me.

Of course, back when it was first started the Bible was not available to the public. Copies were beyond rare... and precious. Now? Not so much. Now anyone with half a brain can take the time to read the relevant verses.. and its plain as day that there is no biblical basis for christians tithing 10% of their monetary income.

Lets look at some examples of tithing in the Bible... how about Deuteronomy for starters?

Deut. 14:22-29, "Thou shall truly TITHE all the INCREASE of thy SEED, that the field brings forth year by year."
"And you shall eat before the lord your God, in the place which He shall choose to place His name there, the TITHE of thy CORN, of thy WINE, and of your OIL, and the FIRSTLINGS OF THY HERDS and of thy FLOCKS: that thou may learn to fear the Lord thy God always.

And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the Lord thy God shall choose to set His name there, when the Lord thy God hath blessed thee:

Then shall thou turn it into MONEY, and bind up the MONEY in your hand, and shall go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose:

And thou shall BESTOW THAT MONEY FOR WHATSOEVER YOUR SOUL LUSTETH AFTER, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for WHATSOEVER YOUR SOUL DESIRES: and YOU shall eat there before the Lord thy God, and THOU shall rejoice, THOU, AND THINE HOUSEHOLD.

And the Levite that is within thy gates, thou shall not forsake him; for he has no part, nor inheritance with thee.
At the end of three years thou shall bring forth all the TITHE of thine INCREASE the same year, and shall lay it up within thy gates:

And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the STRANGER, and the FATHERLESS, and the WIDOW, which are within thy gates, shall come, and SHALL EAT AND BE SATISFIED; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of your hand which thou doest."

Now... do you see anything in that requires anyone to give anyone money? No. Food? Yes. Of course you need to give food... because the tithe is to a be a feast! Its given to everyone... to strangers... to the poor... the needy... and to YOU. And if you cannot attend the appointed place of the feast... what does it say you are to do? It says you are to sell it... and go buy what you want! Strong drink people! It says to sell the food you were going to tithe, and go buy booze!!!

The baptists among us are now officially pissed off.

See? This is why the Bible is so awesome... because it almost never says what you think it says... and what it actually says is always far better than what you've been told. And no.. that is not the only example. The tithe is described in verse after verse as increase from the land. Oils from trees.. nuts from trees.. crops... livestock... but not fish.. and certainly not money.

Jewish fishermen paid no tithe. Neither did Jewish Carpenters. Neither did jewish bankers... unless they happened to also own farm land.

But hey... I'm not against tithing completely... if a levite priest ever shows up I'll be glad to give him 10% of the tomatoes in the garden.

In closing I would also point out that the Eastern Church never adopted this insane practice... in fact.. they mock it... and rightly so.

Now for the fun part... ya wanna know what the real kicker is? The Catholic Church KNOWS this is incorrect. From the Catholic Encyclopedia:

"As the Church expanded and various institutions arose, it became necessary to make laws which would insure the proper and permanent support of the clergy. The payment of tithes was adopted from the Old Law... The earliest positive legislation on the subject seems to be contained in the letter of the bishops assembled at Tours in 567 and the [canons] of the Council of Macon in 585."

There you have it. They needed money to support their bureacracy and decided to dust off an old law that could be suitably reworked to meet all their needs and then some. The lie has been thoroughly entrenched ever since.

So have some fun... go ask you're minister to preach on the truth on tithing. See how well he takes it when you ask him to show you where Paul advised the gentiles to tithe.

Hey Y'all... Watch This!

Take a good look at this picture. That is an illustration of the Apollo missions. NASA apparently drempt this up... and presented it as a reasonable and realistic plan... without snickering to much.
Launch the rocket... get into orbit.. then at precisely the right time.. refire the engines... again.. for just the right time... and slingshot around the earth to gain speed... then its off to the moon.
With slide rules...
Seriously the Apollo space craft had less computing power than a 1990s casio watch. But you expect me to believe... that these same people in this same agency still manage to kill 14 people so far... with today's technology? Doing far less complex missions?
The space shuttle can't reliably go into EARTH'S orbit and back... but you want me to believe that a 1960's barn metal jalopee... built with all the precision HAND TOOLS can possibly provide... made it to the moon... several times?
People... it was an honest to God miracle they ever got one of these things into orbit at all. I mean seriously... do you know what these things were made of? Aluminum. Lots of aluminum... with rivets! Rivets I shit you not.
Today... we could built one of these bad boys... brand new for probly... oh what... hundred grand? 2 hundred grand?
Well?
Why hasn't anyone else done it?
There isn't a 2nd world country on the planet that doesn't have the resources to recreate the apollo program. Why hasn't brazil taken a tiny fraction of their budget and sent a couple soccer players to the moon?
I'll tell ya why...
Because its never been done before... and no one... no one has figured out how to actually do it yet.
The Forcast for 2009

Its shitty... very very shitty indeed... and I shall explain why.

Right now as we speak the 2009 federal budget deficit is at 500 billion... and that does not include anything from TARP... or the soon to be past "stimulus". It doesn't include all manner of costs of the current war which are funded on the fly.

What I'm saying is... in 2009 the federal government is going to spend 2 trillion dollars more... at least... than it collects. That 2 trillion dollars will have to be borrowed... and since we already owe 5 trillion... and the rest of the world is in the same pathetic state we are... its quite clear that the "lending" will be done by the Federal Reserve Bank.

It will "lend" this money to the federal government by "monetizing" the debt. That's what they call it when they print money from thin air. The government wants to spend it... so they literally print up how ever much they need and call it a day.

This is new money. 2 trillion dollars of new money.

I want you to ask yourself... what would happen to the price of gold if 2 trillion ounces of the stuff suddenly found their way into the market? You're right. It would drop like a stone. Gold would be worth less than silver.

Now... what do you expect is going to happen to your dollar when they print up 2 trillion new ones?

This is compounded by the fact that GDP is actually shrinking. We're producing less. So the money supply should also be shrinking... in order to maintain the value of the dollar. But no.. we're doing the opposite. We're literally destroying the dollar.

This is how a big recession turns into a Great Depression.

This is how financial systems die.

How will it effect you specificly though? Prices on everything will go up. Way up. They'll double. They'll more than double... because each of your dollars will only buy what .50 cents will buy today.

There is no getting around this. There is no stopping it. This is not a prediction. This is fact.

If you have cash assets... get rid of them. Convert them to something tangible. Gold or silver will go up in price as the dollar's value goes down. You will be protected to a point. The time is now people. You should be planning for the bad times to come with your family. Very few of us are going to be able to make it on our own during these times... fewer still will thrive.

Most will be forced to pool resources... to improvise... to do without.

Buy a pressure cooker.. learn to can... start as large a garden as you can.

If you know nothing about any of this... there is a book called Country Wisdom and Know-how. Go buy it and start doing for yourself. For a few months it may be a fun hobby. A few months later than that... you'll be damned glad you learned from the experience and made all your mistakes when they didn't matter so much.

Time to get to work folks.

Calling for the Bones

The question is at hand... Where will America be in 2015? In the old days... in the old country... the viking kings would summon the Angel of Death... a prophet of sorts... who would consult the bones... and read the future in them.

These days we're not quite so creative... these days... we can simply look back to history and see what's happened before.

So lets see... In 1929 there was a huge stock market crash... and in response the Hoover admistration passed a bailout bill... then FDR came along... and ramped up spending to never seen before levels... in an all-out effort to create jobs and stimulate the economy.

In 2008 we saw a stockmarted crash... we saw an everything crash... and Dubya's administration passed the TARP bailout bill... and now... Obama's adminstration is about to ramp up spending to never seen before levels... in an all-out effort to create jobs and stimulate the economy?

Let me offer a quote for your consideration... Franklin Roosevelt's Treasury secretary, Henry Morgenthau, addressed Congressional Democrats in May of 1939:

"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong ... somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises ... I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started ... And an enormous debt to boot!"

So Much for the Back Alley Argument

Once again we're faced with a story about an abortionist about to be tried for murder... because he couldn't even competently kill an infant in the prescribed legal manner.

I can't help but notice that the abortionist in question had a restricted medical license...which was being ignored.

Aren't we reliably told that Roe v Wade prevents this kind of thing? Roe supposedly has resulted in clean utopian murder facilities where women can sing Spice Girls songs while murdering infants without uncomfortable emotional entanglements... you know.. like thinking about the fact that its actually a baby.. and not a frog.

Remember as you read the story... the baby that was murdered was 23 weeks old. That's 14 weeks from being term... and kids are born at that gestation every day in hospitals all over the United States. They are growing up to lead normal lives with no complications what-so-ever.

That's not a tadpole. That's a fully formed... still maturing baby.

These murders should hang. All of them.

This is for you.

Huge shiney things are notoriously difficult to photograph... so I suppose these will have to do. Huge is really not an accurate term... the thing is so stupifyingly large that typing while wearing it is quite nearly impossible.

Of course... I will not be taking it off.

The Only Sporting Event That Matters This Weekend

Let's face it... you're gonna watch the super bowl for the comercials as much as the game. Its a social event... its a cultural event... football is an after thought.

No.. the real action is taking place tonight people.

I'm talking about the UFC. I'm talking about mix martial arts... two of the best in the world... Georges St. Pierre against BJ Penn.

If that's not enough... the man that may be the best fighter in the world... Lyoto Machida... will be facing 13-0 Thiago Silva.

There will be choice violence on display... and we won't have to listen to Bruce Springsteen's commie rants.

Obama's a Big Pussy

I don't know if you read DEBKA. If you don't... you certainly should. For example... I would humbly suggest that the american public is entire ignorant of the fact that US siezed a ship smuggling Iranian arms to Hamas last week.

Something else you probably don't know... that ship has been found to have sealed secret holds that we haven't been able to open yet... and this is where we get to Obama being a big pussy. See we need a big port to do a thorough search. You can't just rip a ship apart that's floating out at sea. We already know that Iran is shipping rocket launchers and such to Hamas. They already found them on the ship. What we don't know... is what's in the sealed secret holds... and Obama doesn't want to know.

He's so conserned about not making the Iranians mad... he's stonewalling the search. There are no good ports out there for all kinds of reasons. So they have to get the ship through the Suez canal to find a capable port... but Obama is refusing to bring the ship through.

Let me put this in terms easy for everyone to understand.

You've just realized that the 5th grade bully has stolen your lunch money... but he's been acting nice to you... and now you have to decide if you're going to confront the bully... or just be a big pussy... like Obama.

Its also telling that the american media has not reported on this incident at all. Its what DEBKA refers to as a media "Blackout". Someday someone will explain how the American media is substantially different than Pravda... until then I remain confused.

In the meantime.. we have the boat... but we won't search it... because we don't want to make Iran mad at us. God forbid.

Go See Gran Torino

No seriously. Nothing you have to do tomarrow is more important. Its only going to be around another few weeks.. this may even be the last weekend. If you trusted me when I said Equilibrium was awesome... if you trusted me when I said Second Hand Lions was one of the best movies ever made... trust me now.

Gran Torino is one of the 3 or 4 best movies I have ever seen.

Dora: Glorious Obsurdity
Tonight I wish to discuss an oddity of history... and marvel of engineering. She was the largest of her kind... terrifyingly effective... and at the same time... outregously useless.

Among the 1,420 men it took to assemble and operate her... she was called Dora. Her manufacturer... Krupp... called her Shwerer Gustav... now... she's simply known as the largest gun ever built.
Krupp began designing the Gustav in 1934. She was meant to be the battering ram that would destroy the famed Maginot Line. Of course... in 1940... when the German's famously walked around the Line... and ruined its men and fortifications... the Gustav was still in the workshops.

By the time she was completed... it looked as though there was simply no where to use her... but still... she was a beauty and terror of such perportion that you couldn't blame them for trying. I mean... You don't build a gun like this... and not shoot it.

How big was she? in all honesty she almost defies description.

Dora weighed in a 1,350 tons. Her cannon was 80 centimeters. No... not millimeters. Centimeters. She had a maximum range of 30 miles.
For a time they thought they might get to shoot her at an allied fortification on Gibralter... but Spain nixed that.

It wasn't until 1941 that they finally found something worthy of her... It was a russian port... so heavily fortified it was said to be invulnerable to conventional weapons.

Dora was taken to russia by train... which made sense... since she was designed as a rail car... and trains were the only thing big enough to move her. 1500 soldiers led by engineers made up an advance team that laid special double tracks... and spent 6 weeks preparing the site that would eventually be used to construct and fire the great gun.
When they were done... a crew of 1420 set about assembling Dora on site. Even with the use of 2 10-ton cranes, it took between 3 and 6 weeks to put her together. It took 500 men just to deal with her ammunition... and another 1000 for target intelligence, and air defense.
On the 5th of June, 1942 Dora cleared her throat. True she was but one weapon among hundered set against Sevestopal... but her devastation is still legendary. It took her only 8 shots to level the coastal batteries that had stood for centuries.
Later in the day... she fired 6 shots... which destroyed Fort Stalin. 14 shots in 1 day was all they managed. The fasted turn around was 15 minutes between shots. Still... when you consider the scale of destruction...it was impressive.
On June 6th they aimed the big gun at Fort Molotov... and seven shots later.... it was ruined.
Then Dora turned her considerable attention to sea. Amazingly enough the Russians had buried an huge weapons cache out under the harbor... beneathe the sea itself... but they learned that day that what Dora wants... Dora gets.
It took 9 shots. 9 shots to burrow down through the sea... more than 100 feat below the sea floor. The final shot exploded inside the cache and destroyed it completely. They even sunk a ship for good measure.
That was that.
Dora was never fired again. She was disassembled and transported back to Germany... but on the way her trains were destroyed... scattering her parts all over the country side. All that remains today are a few inert shells.
Still... she was a marvel. Utterly useless... and yet undeniably effective.
Objects of Obsession

I present the EAA Witness Gold Team. From the lightened slide, to the compensator, to the ported barrel, to the trigger stop... this bad boy is competition ready out of the box... and not to mention... its just about the coolest looking handgun I've ever seen. A recent bit of knowledge has gotten me a little excited about the old .38 Super again... which by the way is an option for this beauty. See... Any .38 Super... will also reliably shoot 9X23 Winchester (upon reflection I would like to amend that statement. You would be a spectacular idiot to shoot 9X23 our of a Glock) . That caliber shoots right with the very hottest of the .357 magnums. If a 147 grain silver tip rolling at 1400fps won't do the trick... I don't know what will. Obviously 9x23 is firmly entrenched in the competition shooting world... but its starting to gain respect as a hunting and defense round. The mags can be modified to allow this bad boy to carry 19+1. Of course... if that's just not enough diameter for you.. fear not... the Gold Team also comes in .45 acp.

Black Wednesday

I don't know if you've yet heard the about the tragic events of the day... if not... then I fear the dreadful work is left to me. I must inform you...

Ted Kennedy is alive... and was released from the hospital.

I know this comes as a shock to a lot of you. I know yesterday looked like the day we'd been praying for all these many years. Well don't lose faith brothers... the old bastard has to die sometime.

In the Immortal Words of Gabby Johnson

The President is a ***BONG***!!!

If you haven't seen Blazing Saddles you won't get it... but if you have...then I may just owe you a new keyboard. You're welcome.
Witnessing History

Important historical events of this incredibily signifcant day:

1) First time in US history both the chief justice and the president elect managed to screw up the oath of office.

2) First time in US history the american public has elected back to back retards.

3) 30th time in american history the idiotic america public has been duped into believing something will actually change.

4) First time Republicans actually have to consider the consequences of their actions. After all.. a retarded commie now has all the powers of the Patriot Acts. Bend over boys.

5) First time a homosexual has been inaugurated... ok... first time since Lincoln.

6) First time a crack head has been inaugurated...

7) Second time Bill Clinton's entire cabinet has been appointed.

8) Second time a US president is doing what ever the fuck Hillary Clinton says.

9) First time in US history the term African American was actually used accurately. After all... OBama was born in Kenya. He really is an African American.

10) Lincoln rolled over in his grave today... ok... so it wasn't a total loss.
Feel free to add more in the comments.
A Telling Quote...

"They will judge you by what you build... not by what you destroy."

In otherwords... then ends justify the means. Lincoln would love that statement... I mean after all... He is judged well because he built a strong union. No one seems to give a damn that he destroyed half of the nation and killed 3 million people to do it.

That's arguably the scariest thing I've known Herr Obama to say.

Pardon me... I have ammo to stack and firearms to clean.

Happy Birthday General

On this day, January 19, 1807... Robert E. Lee was born.

You are expected to raise a glass of fine bourbon tonight in honour of The Man.
Something to Think About

American beer is like making love in a canoe. That is to say...

Its fucking close to water.
Wrap Up... SHOT 2009

I'm going to try to sum up the highlights today for you... I'll post more as I remember them. As you can imagine... a lot of it is still a blur. Let's start with the nitty gritty... Here's some good info I got from straight from the mouths of various, and relevant horses while I was down there...

1) Kel-Tec will produce 250 RFB's a week... and have already taken orders for thousands. They took an order for 1000 while we were standing their BS'ing at their booth. They didn't even negotiate.

2) George Kelgren (Founder of Kel-Tec) is terrified of Obama. Remember, his old company, Gendel, was completely put out of business by the "assault weapons" ban in the 90s. He's very worried about the possibilities of another one... and it is driving his business decisions.

3) The big shots at Remington and Taurus discussed it... and decided the prostitutes in Orlando were nice but not as good as those in Rio. I heard this.

4) Kelgren is far from the only man worried about Washington. Indeed... the economy was not a topic that people seemed to care about. If anything they were joking that we should have depressions more often. There was a lot of worry about possible legislation. More companies than ever are schilling for the NRA. Shame they don't have sense enough to get behind an actual pro-gun organization like JFPO or GOA.

5) No Poofters

6) Nikon's BDC (bullet drop compensator) System is a complete joke. It has a magnum setting for 300 win mag and such... and it has a regular setting for .270, 308, and 30-06. Now when Luke asked a Nikon tech to explain it... he said... "we're going to get you on the animal"... which was fine... until he explained that the scope made no differences for bullet weight or caliber. When I laughed about this and asked if he understood the different drop at 600 yards between a 200 grain .308 and a 140 grain .270... the man said... "gravity is gravity". I looked at him like he was a moron... and he said, "I mean yeah.. all you have is the difference in speed... that's all." ???? THAT'S ALL??? The difference in speed is everything... the faster a bullet is... the less time its dropping... the more distance in covers in the time it has to fall. The company is acting like the difference in bullet drop at 500 yards between a heavy bullet in a .308 or a light bullet in a .270 is completely insignificant... its close enough. Its not close enough. It will not "get you on the animal". I am a Nikon guy. I love their cameras. I love their scopes. So I say this as a big fan of Nikon... do not... I repeat.. do not buy a Nikon scope that uses this system.

7) Charles Daly's AR's are assembled in Kentucky... which has us curious... have they contracted with Double Star? Also on the Daly front... Their Bul M5...a polymer 1911 is made by Bul... an Israeli arms company. Bul had their own display... with what had to be considered one of the most impressive line ups of 1911's I saw at the show. Right up there with Springfield and Dan Wesson. Keep an eye on Daly.

8) No Poofters

9) Kimber had quite a display... Half in disgust I picked up one of those idiotic "desert warrior" things... Gawd Awful... Luke saw me and well... it went kind like this...
"Nate? Holding a Kimber?"
"Yeah... I suppose I just wanted to check... make sure they still suck as bad as I remember"
"Hrm... ain't that like sucking a dick.. just to make sure you still don't like it?"
I chuckled of course... it was well played... but mostly I was just amused that someone had equated dry firing a Kimber with homosexual activity.

10) There is no item 10.

11) No Poofters

12) The little blog here is a little more widely known among the industry types than I realized. Folks at Barrett recognized my name and associated it with the blog. Barrett being in Murfreesboro, TN... that didn't surprise me. The blog makes the local news in Nashville every so often. I knew the boys at Springfield read it already... as the Springfield company blogger and I have exchanged emails. Kel-Tec's boys also apparently knew about blog. All of this says more about company's tracking their product's on the web than it says about my blog. Its not a coincidence that Kel-Tec and Springfield knew the blog when you consider how much I blog about them. Similarly one of the guys at Taurus (tech guy) also knew of the blog. Again...for the same reason. I didn't talk to the Kimber folks... I really didn't want to get in a fight at SHOT.

13) The EZ Signal phone will be available this summer.

14) No Poofters

15) EAA is making some really nice weapons. If you get a chance to check out their Gold Cup or Limited... do so. Truly cool. Cute chicks at their display area to.

16) If you're going to buy a Kel-Tec SU-16.. get the C model. The barrels on the A and the B are very thin, and heat up to quickly... which causes severe accuracy issues. The C on the other hand... which is the one JAC and I have... is astonishingly accurate. The head of Kel-Tec R and D told me he was pushing them to change all the barrels to the heavier C model... but everyone's focus is on the RFB right now.

17) Don't look for a Kel-Tec .45 any time soon. They know they need one in their lineup... but they just don't have the time or resources to do it. There are no drawings. There are no ideas. its just a hole they see that at some point they'd like to fill. Any rumors you hear otherwise are completely false.

18) The same fella from Kel-Tec also provided this gem on the Mini-14... "Ya know what you get when you take a bunch of bad ideas and put them all together? A mini 14." It was a joy to find that one of the brains behind my beloved little carbine was also a card carrying member of the Anti-Mini-14 Society for the Prohibition of Rifles that Suck. AMSPRTS... for short.

19) Taurus uses the same sites on the 24-7s and 1911s. Pretty smart. This means if they find a cool site they'd like to add to their line up... they can do so quickly. And yes... they are doing just that. Look for Taurus to offer triangle style sights in the very near future on their pistols. The details are still being worked out... but the fella that owns the company that makes the sights explained that he'd just talked to Taurus and worked out the deal.

***UPDATE***
20) I just remembered something that struck me as odd. In tactical law enforcement area of SHOT it was common to see company enterages trotting around.... almost all of them included a Navy SEAL... and often when they would introduce themselves... they would say things like "This is our Navy SEAL so-and-so." Like they were talking about a fashion accessory. It was amusing at first... but it turned creepy after a while. I kept my ears open... and I heard a lot more than I think a lot of people there.

Now... before you complain to loudly about the quality of information provided... I would encourage you to consider how much you paid for it.

ATF: SHOT 2009

So Luke I are down in Orlando... probly cold where you are eh? Yeah that sucks... anyway... we're down here enjoying SHOT 2009. Boys I can tell ya... I have seen many things. I've fondled many... firearms... and knives... and accessories... for... firearms... and I took a test ride on a Rockon two wheel drive motorcycle. The show is unbelievable. Think of the largest mall you've ever seen... now imagine the entire thing packed with gun stuff. That's SHOT. A google search would provide you more information.. you can even look at the exhibitors list... which will give you another idea of scale. We walked roughly ten miles today... and saw a little less than half of the exhibits. Madness.

We didn't come home empty handed of course... much swag has been had... and Luke even managed to find a bayonet for his FNP-40. But wait you say... the FNP-40 is a pistol! You can't put a bayonett on a bloody pistol!

Oh you can't?

Not only that... he used it to cut the smoked venison we had for dinner. And yes... it is KaBar... thanks for asking.
And now we're drinkin', and smokin'... dammit.

Boys

It occured to me... its probably been a long time since y'all have gotten to see a picture of the boys. I figured I would post one... just to remind you... I do in fact have the best looking family in America. Particularly when Daddy is not in the picture!
Doubters!

The rule is... Pics or it didn't happen... I believe I saw some such nonsense posted. Fair enough. So... what happens when a 18 month old kid runs head first into a fiberglass bathtub?

Well... If the kid is Elkan...
That's what happens. Dammit.

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Ouch!

Let me tell ya... when Christopher Hitchens is capable of slapping your ass silly... you are indeed in trouble.

Seriously... I'm trying to remember the last time Slate sodomized a member of the church so publicly. Hilary probably got the first peal necklace of her whole life... and I'll be Hitchens didn't even give her cab fare.
Eklan - 1 Fiberglass Bathtubs - 0

See... if you'd told me that one of my boys would destroy a major piece of functional furniture... like a bathtub... I would probably have said.. yeah.. I'm sure they will.... eventually. If you'd told me it would be Elkan... I would've said... yeah... I can see that. But if you had told me he was gonna do it yesterday... well that would've been a suprise.

Apparently Elkan and Nana were playing Hide-and-Go-Seek... a favorite game of theirs. They play it all the time over at Nana's house. So.. as usual... Nana was "hiding" in her bathroom... and Elkan comes bursting in... "running" as fast as he can... So fast in fact... that he didn't notice the bathroom scale. He tripped over it... and his head smashed into the bathtub.

I'm using the word smash deliberately here... because smash is exactly what he did.

Elkan stood up... cried for a few seconds... then wanted to play some more.

But the bathtub looks like someone hit it with a hammer. There's a 3 inch section that was literally shattered... pushed in... and generally broken.

To give the matter some perspective... remember... Elkan is 18 months old.

Flordia 56 - Oklahoma 17

Nuff Said.
Porn Bailout!

Seriously. The porn industry is getting in on this whole bailout mania. I wish I was joking. What do you wanna bet they actually get something? Oh sure... it'll get snuck into some "media bailout" and will never get reported... but I'll bet you the mongers get something.

The fact that they would even ask... and it would be reported as news... just proves how pathetic America has become.

Boys... we are fast approaching go time.
Bizarre Superbowl Narrative

Lets just assume things work out.. and the Titans play the Giants in the Superbowl... If so.. it will be eerily similar...

The story starts in Superbowl V... when Craig Morton lead the upstart Dallas Cowboys to the Superbowl... only to lose a war with Johnny Unitas and Colts.

Fast forward to 1978... when Craig Morton becomes the first QB to take two different franchises to the Superbowl... and... interestingly enough... he's facing his old team.. the Cowboys. Of course now the Cowboys feature rockstar QB Roger Staubach.

Now... Kerry Collins has the opportunity to be only the second QB to take two different franchises to the Superbowl... and if he does so... there's a very good chance he'll do it against his old team.. the Giants... and their rockstar QB... Eli Manning...exactly 30 years after Morton did it.

The one glaring difference?

Collins will win.

Women Are Children

At least they are treated as such by our society... so why should we be suprised... when female adults abandon even the pretense of adult behavior?

If you click the link you'll read about grown women taking real looking dolls to play dates and to the park... you know.. just like they did when they were 6.

I would like to say I'm suprised by this... but I'm not. Not even a little bit... after all... as we learned from the Boston Globe... living in cities makes you stupid... and well... small town girls have real babies.

***UPDATE***

Ebay has an entire catagory dedicated to these psycho women and their psycho practices! And a friend just informed me that she has a family member that actually does this! She has one of these attrocities! She has parties for it and crap!

My eyes are bleeding.

Pray for rain. 40 days of rain.

iFail

I don't know if you heard.. but the MacWorld convention is going on... and metrosexuals all over the country are agape at the debut of three year old technology in slick packaging. The really funny thing is... Macrumors.com got hacked during its keynote coverage.

Yes. I'm chuckling.

Fail.

Well... I went to range today... And I must say... thanks to EN's rambling foolishness I found my mind wondering off to thought of pins shearing off as I looked through the sites of the new 1911. But before I get to far along... let me assure you... this is a true one hole shooter.

**BANG**

Oh...

That felt sweet. Easy big fella... we're testing for function here... it hit the target... don't bother looking to close... just move on. We'll worry about accuracy in a few minutes.

Ok.. so now I load two 230 grain hardballs into the mag...

**BANG**

Oh...

That felt sweet to... umm... why is the slide still back?

Hrm...

Failure to eject.

Clear.

Try again.

Failure to eject.

Dammit.

Excellent! Now we get to tune the extractor! sweet! see? Told you it was a one hole shooter. Oh well... let's check accuracy for shits and giggles. No bench available... kinda raining... 35 degrees outside... not the best conditions...

Still... 3 shots in an inch at 25 yards. I dare not speak ill.

Tease

Now... first things first... when you're making the decision to build your very own 1911... you must realize one immutible fact... drop in parts don't drop in. Not even when they all come from one place in one kit. Oh... there may be reviews raving about how nothing required fitting... in fact the kit I got had 10 such reviews. Ya know what?

Almost everything required fitting. In fact... if I were to start listing all the parts that required fitting... you'd realize we worked on the majority of the parts on the weapon. If we didn't work on a specific part... odds are we worked on something that touches it.

There is another undeniable fact... You will lose something. You will. Period. Just spend the money in advance and by like 3 spring kits... 3 pin kits... ect ect. You will lose something... and it will happen when you are almost done and have a ton of momentum... and you will not want to stop and wait for a part to come in.

Things you will need:

1 1911 frame

1 1911 slide

1 1911 completion kit

extra pins and springs

emory cloth

complete drill set (we didn't have one... but we wish we did)

1 dremel tool and all the do dads that go along with it

1 bench vice

emory boards (you know... girls fingernail files. We couldn't have finished it without them)

1 google video showing the entire process

1 lap top on your work bench

roughly... 10 hours... maybe 20.

Now... I had 2 slides... one mil spec... and a fancy government from Caspian. Ya know what I learned really quick? Caspian drills all their slides for #38 firing pins. The parts kit I had didn't have a # 38 firing pin. It was much larger. So... Order firing pin from Caspian. Ya know what else I learned? Caspian firing pins don't necessarily drop into Caspian slides. Even the right sized ones. This is where a numbered set of bits comes in handy.

Other parts were of considerable difficulty as well... for example... the link pin. The link pin was the devil. If link pin fit is a factor on accuracy, and when accurizing a 1911 those pins are tighted up considerably, then this should be a one hole pistol. Because we actually had to heat the barrel up to press fit the damned thing in. I can assure you... that at least will not wiggle free.

I think that's enough for now.

Project 1911 Completed

Thanks to the Brothers C. With their help, and a few minor miracles... a new 1911 was birthed today. We all learned a lot about the weapon... and I can honestly say... if you've never attempted to build your own 1911...

Don't.

Independence and Responsibility

We are asked each day to surrender our independence in the name of convenience. In most cases we do so gladly. We make the trade without a thought. It sounds like such a good deal after all.

Consider...

You don't want the responsibility of educating your own children... and the government offers to do so for free. Sounds like a great deal doesn't it? But set aside the issue of indoctrination and the worry of inferior education and just look at the deal you're making.

A child in school is a ball and chain. Oh... you may have 8 weeks of vacation a year... but you don't get to take them the way you want to... because your kid has to be in school. You're tied down.

Compare that to a family that takes the responsibility themselves. They come and go as they please. In the last 4 months of 2008 we spent 10 days at time in Destin/Navarre, Disney, North Georgia, and Pennsylvania. That was more than a week in each of those months that my kids would've missed school. It would've ended badly. They would've been classified as "behind" regardless of the fact that they no doubt would still be far ahead. Its just something families don't do.

Hell... work itself is a terrible ball and chain. You're trading the responsibility of earning your own money for the security of a paycheck. An illusion if ever there was one... A man that works for himself, or better still, a man that employs others to work for him, is a free man.

And lastly... I'll offer one other crippling cuff... the very possessions we cherrish.

You can't just get up and move can you? You can't just make up your mind to leave and hop on a plane to Paradise right? You have a house to sell. What would you do with all that furniture? What about all your stuff?

You see where I'm going with this? When we make a decision... we should be a little more conscience of the consequences. I'm not saying that you shouldn't take a good job because your independence is to valuable. But be aware of your options.

And what of security? That's the big one right? We're terrified of crime or terrorism... and thus we franticly look for another set of handcuffs to jam our arms into, as if it will do any good. The truth is... security from crime is something that is beyond the scope of a government to provide to an individual or even a family. That's a cold hard fact. Cops are historians. 911 operators are there to tell the cops where to go take pictures of the bodies.

In the case of security... individually... you can choose to take the responsibility... or you can choose to ignore the fact that you're a statistic in waiting.

But as a whole... as a population... the threat is just as great. We continue to leap from the frying pan to the fire... seeking salvation where there is only doom.

If your house is on fire... you cannot put it out with dynamite. Nor can you save your cherrished freedoms by surrendering them to the government.

Not Good News

At least 3 people I know have had dreams about the coming of WWIII... all three in early January. I chuckled at those dreams of course... but then... I did blink twice when I read this.

to admit mistakes. Women know this better than anyone.

A Merry Christmas Indeed

We're busy cooking of course... just like every other good family. The bird will be introduced to the frier soon enough... In the mean time there is hot buttered rum simmering in the crock.. smelling up the house like nothing else does.

I've tried several recipes over the last few years... I thought I'd share the most recent.

3 sticks cinammon
6 whole cloves
2 hard packed cups Brown Sugar
1 pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 quarts hot water
1/2 cup butter (1 stick) (real butter dammit)
heavy whipping cream
2 cups dark rum
nutmeg

Put all that in your crock pot on low. Leave it for 5 hours. If you're in a hurry... put it on high for the first hour, then low for 2 hours. Works just as well. When done stir in the rum.

Serve in a warm mug with a scoop of whipped cream and dusting of nutmeg.

As always... adjust everything to taste. Some folks my want to halve the brown sugar... others may prefer to double the rum. Hard to argue with either... or both.

Give a try boys. If nothing else... it'll smell up your house like nothing else.

VPFL Champion

I would like to say that I came into this Fantasy season convinced that I had to win the Championship. After finishing last in 2007 I wouldn't have felt good about continuing in the league that was my brainchild if I hadn't had a spectacular season this year.

Last year... everything that could've gone wrong... went wrong. I lost player after player to injury. It was amazing. It really was.

What a difference a few months makes.

This year I lead the VPFL in total points scored. I won the Championship... and I did it without a dominant QB. I did it with depth. Its a satisfying Championship because of the adjustments I made throughout the year that paid off so often.

It all culminated yesterday when I started Brandon Jacobs... while everyone else thought I should start Chris Johnson. Oh CJ did fine... but Jacobs pounded out 3 rushing TDs... providing 22 fantasy football points.

I will be placing an order for my Championship Ring today. It usually takes 4 to 6 weeks for such things to arrive. Rest assured... many photos will be shared when it shows up.

What's Broken?

There is a line of reasoning that claims that the economy is all in our heads. According to the subscribers bad news breeds fear which negatively affects investment patterns, which leads to more bad news. Good news works in precisely the opposite manner...

The people would have you believe that you can walk into a burning building and ask, "Fire? What fire? Everything is excellent!" and suddenly... poof... the buildign would cease to burn.

I can hardly imagine a more childish or... simplistic... view of the world around us.

But... since it is simplisity that is desired... I have desided to provide it. Tonight... I should very much like to take the opertunity to explain what's broken in terms everyone can grasp.

Imagine if, you will, an island. On this island are several cast aways. There is japanese man, a chinese man, a french man, a german, an indian, and an american.

Each morning the Japanese man goes fishing. He fishes all day. The chinaman gathers fruits and nuts. The german crafts utensils. The indian hunts wild game for meat. The frenchman cooks all day.

At the end of each day... all of them present their well crafted products to the American who has done nothing all day. The American eats virtually all of it... leaving only the barest scraps for the others.

The next day it starts over.

Now... Keynesian economic theory... or... as you may prefer to think of it... American economic theory... the economic theory that our government has used to make all of its decisions for the last hundred years or so... would have you believe that the American is vital to that island's economic stability.

I mean... Look at all the jobs the American is creating by providing all that consumption.

Only a harvard educated politician would actually believe such insanity... but believe it they do. With such faith that they risk the very survival of their nation upon it.

Any idiot can see the American is a drag on the economy of the island... The other castaways would be far better off without the american at all. There would be more for them. They would have more wealth... and more free time.

And you wonder why the world loathes Americans?

The problem is not perception. The problem is not in our heads. We are not facing tough economic times because we're not happy enough.

We are facing tough economic times because we've stopped producing. No. The problem is not in our heads.

Its in our hands.

Christmas at Nate's

I'm sure you'd be suprised to know that music is important to Dr Who and I. Since 1997 we've marked the Christmas season with a traditional collection of Christmas songs performed by the Cheiftans and several guest singers. On it can befond everything from traditional Irish Jigs to, Oh Come All Ye Faithful, to Jackson Brown's Rebel Jesus. There is an angelic performance of Oh Holy Night that I've never heard rivaled... and this one particular gem that inspired me to blog today... Elvis Costello's "St Stevens Day Murders".

I don't know if you've ever heard this song or not... but the song is so lyricly brilliant I couldn't help but share it. See for yourself... see if doesn't describe a holiday gathering of extended family to near perfection.

I knew of two sisters whose name it was Christmas,
And one was named Dawn of course, the other one was named Eve.
I wonder if they grew up hating the season,
The good will that lasts til the Feast of St. Stephen
For that is the time to eat, drink, and be merry,
Til the beer is all spilled and the whiskey has flowed.
And the whole family tree you neglected to bury,
Are feeding their faces until they explode.

There'll be laughter and tears over Tia Marias,
Mixed up with that drink made from girders.
’Cause it's all we've got left as they draw their last breath,
Ah, it's nice for the kids, as you finally get rid of them,
In the St Stephen's Day Murders.

Uncle is garglin' a heart-breaking air,
While the babe in his arms pulls out all that remains of his hair.
And we're not drunk enough yet to dare criticize,
The great big kipper tie he's about to baptize.
With his gin-flavoured whiskers and kisses of sherry,
His best Chrimbo shirt slung out over the shop.
While the lights from the Christmas tree blow up the telly,
His face closes in like an old cold pork chop.

And the carcass of the beast left over from the feast,
May still be found haunting the kitchen.
And there's life in it yet, we may live to regret,
When the ones that we poisoned stop twitchin'.

There'll be laughter and tears over Tia Marias,
Mixed up with that drink made from girders.
’Cause it's all we've got left as they draw their last breath,
Ah, it's nice for the kids, as you finally get rid of them,
In the St Stephen's Day Murders.

Jacob's Ladder: 500kV Switch Opening

So a buncha guys came into walmart recently... urgently seeking new underwear.

How Worthless is the Dollar?

Well.. its worthless enough that some yankees are considering printing their own money. This is of course little more than isolationism. I mean... if you have money that's only good in your town.. folks have to buy local right?

Ya don't hear about this stuff in a recession people. This is the kind of thing you find when a country has a year or two of recession... which means now we just have to wait till the bankers start jumping out their windows and splattering all over wall street... then we can officially call it a depression.

Who says there's nothing to smile about?
I Should Blog Something

But what? I mean surely I have something to say don't I?

Not really. I've been gravely ill... and thus... useless. Consequently my blogging has been reduced to near vacation levels.

Anyway... its friday...

so I have a rather important question relating to protocol.

In america... we drink beer. But historicly speaking... we originally drank Cider. The other day... I has happily mocking a friend for drinking cider... when he pointed out that he was enjoying the cider as a historical ethnic preference.

The english wrote songs about cider. Ever heard Johnny Jump Up?

Now... don't get me wrong... I continued to mock him.. and to insist that he was drinking an alternative Zima.

What say you lads?

Cherished Illusions Lost

So now we know that we're going to see an addition 20,000 military troops working on US soil... we see yet another of our illusions flushed unceremoniously down the toilet. Oh sure... Posse Comitotus has been irrelevant since WACO anyway... but it was nice to pretend wasn't it?

Amazingly enough... the american public will shrug. Its a different world today right? All those stuffy rules have no place in today's america.

I agree completely.

Which is why I've come to loathe what America has become.

The Devil's Paintbrush

Tonight I'd like to tell you the tale of one of histories great inventors. So great in fact... that Thomas Eddison paid him to move to Europe and stop working on new designs.

Tonight... we're going to talk about Hyram Stevens Maxim... and what happened after Eddison made him that deal.

One never knows how even the most flippant remarks may effect world history. There is no greater example... than this one.

While he was in Europe Hyram was visited by an old friend from America. His friend said to him... "Look.. drop all this chemistry nonsense. If you want to make real money... give the Europeans something to cut each other's throats with."

Flippant as it may seem... that statement rocked Maxim to his core.

By 1886 he had his first working prototype. It was accurate. It was ultimately reliable... and at a time when the finest soldiers in the world could fire 26 rounds per minute with a bolt action rifle... you could put a moron behind this weapon and tell him to pull the trigger... and fire a symbolic 666 rounds per minute.

Maxim invented the worlds first machine gun... in 1886. When americans were still using Gatlin Guns.

The Crash

What you are looking at is a graph of the Baltic Dry Index. Now most likely you have no idea what that is. Basicly its a tool that estimates the demand for shipping world wide. It estimates the price of a standard cargo shipment, and tracks the cost change over time. The higher the cost of the shipment, the higher the demand for shipping.

Now this is important... because when economies are working... things are moving around. Stuff has to go from factories to stores... from country to country. Dig? These types of tools tell us a lot about the state of the economy world wide.

Now take a good look. From a high of 12,000 a few months ago... to 1000 today.

Ya know what that means? It means stuff ain't moving around. It means... factories aren't selling goods. It means factories aren't even making goods.

Consider as well... Its Christmas people. This is supposed to be the busiest time of year for shipping companies. Look at the graph. At the end of each year there is a spike. Not this year.

Not good.

Not good at all.
A New Tool

In many situations I've taken to carrying two steyr m40's. After all... the quickest way to reload is to draw another weapon. Still... even a gun nut like me has to admit that a firearm is only one tool. It is not the answer to all personal security questions.

So... I've indugled myself a bit... and picked up a few stun guns.

I went with Black Cobra... 600,000 volts. They're very small... think cigarette pack... and believe it or not... they are powered by a 9-volt battery.

Unfortunately there is not a lot of info on individual stun guns. You can't go read reviews of them... because lets face it... test subjects aren't easy to find... and lets face it.. cats look far to flamable for something like this.

I can tell you.. the little bastard makes a very loud pop... and throws an impressive spark.

I don't know that I can recommend relying on something like this as your own and only line of defence. Not until I can actually see it used. Still... no more than they cost... It certainly seems like a good option.

And lets face it... a stun gun may save you some legal bills.

Glocks Suck

I thought I should take some time to explain my disdain for Glock... and to provide some contrast... I'll also explain why the Steyrs I own are demonstratably superior in every way.

First.. you need to understand that the Glock was designed as a 9mm. When they decided to offer it in .40... they had a choice... redesign the whole weapon... or find some way to rig it.

Guess what they chose?

That's right. They simply rebarrelled, modified the breech face, and dropped in a stiffer spring... and called it a Glock 22... or 23... depending. In fact... many manufacturers have done this... including S&W... with the S&W 99.

We call this bastardization an Unsupported Chamber. If that sounds bad... its because it is. In unsupported chambers brass expands far to much... and is even mishapen... most commonly expanded oval.. pushed down in the 6 o'clock position. Brass fired from an M40 measures between .428 and .430. Brass fired from a Glock 22 measures .431 to .433. That's a huge difference... as anyone who reloads can tell you.

Look inside a M40 sometime. Side by side with a Glock 22 you'll notice right away how much beefier the Steyr is. Because again... the Steyr was designed to be a .40. Not a 9mm.

The simple truth is... you don't want to reload brass that was fired from an unsupported chamber... and you want to be very careful about what loads you put in that chamber... lest you learn first hand why we use the term KaBoom.

I'm not trying to panic you here. If you're shooting factory tested ammo... you're obviously fine. But you should think long and hard before you start rollin' your own for your Glock. Glock isn't interested in making sure your brass lasts. They apparently only give a damn about rigging up half-assed designs that function... sort of.

The only good thing about glocks is the fact that you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one. Consequently ammo manufacturers have beefed up their cases to attempt to deal with the flaws in the 22 and 23.

How pathetic is that?

And now for a little background. The Steyr M4o was designed by a former employ of Glock... Wilhelm Bubits. He was around at the begining... and was extremely critical of the 22 and 23 designs for the reasons listed above. He was so frustrated with Glock's designs he actually became a designer himself and presented his copyrights to Glock. Glock didn't like the M40... so he took it across the street to Steyr.

They loved the design... and after some tweaking put it into production. The result was the most impressive modern pistol that no one gave a chance.

What Would You Do?

You wake up.. and the internet is buzzing. While you slept last night... by executive order... martial law has been declared and all firearms are to be confiscated. The government says you have 24-hours to turn in all weapons and ammunition at the nearest police station. Anyone caught with so much as one bullet will be imprisoned without trial.

There are pictures and videos of huge fenced areas where violators will be taken. The government refers to these concentration camps as "Gun Court".

You have 24 hours.

No time to wait for a trial or an injunction. Federal judges have refused to accept any challenge to the orders.

What do you do?

At 11:00 an army general holds a news conference where he explains that this is a military mission and it will be handled as such. The membership records of the NRA have already been siezed... along with the records of all pro-gun organizations. He states plainly that the homes of every NRA member will be searched. They have begun searching digital pictures from public survielence systems searching for hints of fire arms ownership like bumperstickers or t-shirts. He announces that the FBI has turned over the background checks on every firearm purchase made in the last decade.

At 4:00pm the President announces that you have 12 hours left to turn in your weapons. People have started leaving work to turn in their guns. Police are everywhere... soldiers are everywhere. They aren't doing anything... they are just... around.

What do you do?

This is all fantasy right? This can't happen. It never happens like this. Its just nuts.

Well consider... this is exactly how it happened in Jamaica in 1972.

OWNED

Please watch this particularly entertaining clip on Youtube.

You will hear Peter Schiff (Ron Paul's chief economic advisor) explain in specific terms exactly what happened to the market this year... and why... and he did so in 2006 and 2007. Pay particular attention to the buy recommendations given by the other so called experts. They are telling you how cheap Merril Lynch is at 58 bucks a share.

Everyone that listened flushed that money down the toilet.

Who's laughing now bitches?

Sig Heil

So... Its not with a little suprise... that I find otherwise intelligent people shrugging their shoulders when they learn of Der Fuhrer's plans for requiring community service.

I mean... what's wrong with community service right?

Well... let's see... when you think of community service.. you probably think of some hearty volunteers spending an afternoon picking up litter... or serving soup to the poor at the local kitchen.

What you don't think about... is boot camp. You don't think about 3 months of your life at a barracks. You don't think about 50 jumping jacks in Aunt Samantha's Civilian Security Force.

But you should.

Because that's what Obama and his advisors are talking about.

When they say community service... they mean... conscripting your kids into a civilian police force that will conveniently circumvent the US laws which prevent the US military from taking action against US citizens.

There is nothing else such a force can do, that cannot already be done by the National Guard.

Consider... There is already a system in place for civilians to voluntarily and temporarily serve the country... its called the National Guard. We don't need a completely new organization...unless the National Guard isn't good enough. And its obviously not. If it was... the administration could simply suggest requiring everyone to serve there-in. But nope... that doesn't solve their problem. They want a new force entirely... and they are specific about it being a "civilian" force.

In other words... a police force... for a police state.

This is not paranoia people. This is the only logical conclusion.

The new administration is flat out declaring their intentions to create an extremely well funded federal police force the likes of which has never existed on this continent.

Pack.

Your.

Bags.

Look at the Loonies!

Boy the morons are getting pretty damned brazen aren't they? I mean am I the only one paying attention here? Have y'all noticed all the psycho ideas that have bubbled up from the cesspool of the liberal mind? The election was held less than 7 days ago... and so far we have...

- Confiscation of all 401ks and IRAs.

- A 1 dollar per gallon gas tax INCREASE

- A Gestapo. Well... I mean a civilian security force.

- Adding community service to middle school, high school, and college curriculums

- Outlawing High Tide

Ok I'm kidding about that last one... but give them time.

We're So Outta Here

Let me start off by saying the blog may under go some changes. Mainly you can expect that the most common topic will be escape. I choose the word escape... because that's what it is. Escaping what may well become Fortress Amerika is now priority number 1.

So... if like me... expatriating is something you're serious about... or if its something that is a little more interesting after the recent unfortunate events... then I think you'll enjoy things around here a lot.

If it all sounds defeatest and you're looking for someone to lead a rebellion... look elsewhere.

I don't give a damn about this yankee hell hole.

I don't give a damn about the flag or the principles for which it now stands.

My loyality is to my God and to my wife and kids.

So lets start this off right...

Here are some countries that are high on our list right now:

Panama
Belize
Switzerland
Brazil

Our plan is pretty simple really... vacation in the places that interest us... make professional contacts while we're abroad... then make the decision.

Awake

Last year a movie came out called Awake. You probably saw the previews. It played on a popular fear of waking up during surgery... being paralyzed... but still feeling everything that happens during the procedure.

Now... this lead to people all over the country harassing anesthesiologists with stupid questions.

I mean seriously... did you call up NASA and ask them if there really was a moon sized space station capable of destroyign planets? I mean... you saw it on a movie right?

There are countless claims of course by people who say this happened to them. Never mind that you can pull the chart from their case and see plain as day that their blood pressure and heart rate never fluctuated.

See... Anesthesiologists don't just sit around back there with their thumbs up their butts. They moniter every vital sign. More than that... in many cases they manipulate them. They stop you from breathing and do it for you. If necessary... they stop your heart deliberately... then restart it.

Now ask yourself this question... when you're scared... or in severe pain... does your heart rate remain completely steady? Or does it start pounding like hell?

And on top of everything else... even if you did "get a little light", which is what they call it when you start twitching or something during surgery, they crank the gas up big time... and you stop twitching. Not to mention... they have these wonderful drugs that have the greatest of side effects... They eradicate short term memory.

So if you did wake up... no way in hell you'd remember it.

All of that said... If an anesthesiologist wanted you to feel it all and remember you felt it... he could... and if you payed attention during that assinine movie... you'll note the medical staff was actually trying kill the protagonist.

Oh... those drugs with the convenient side effects? I should also point out that some of the gases are known to cause extremely violent dreams... and think about it... you're going into surgery... what you scared of? What's on your mind?

So yes... I'm saying they dreamed it. All of them. Well.. except the ones that REALLY pissed off their anesthesiologists.
